Sound Function Disapears on Version 1.1

After upgrading to the new version of Start 8 v1.1 my sound icon disappears.

When I try and adjust volume I cannot get the sound functions back or adjust the volume.

When I uninstall and go back to previous version its back and working.

Could you please help in rectifying this issue.

Could you be a little more specific on this please.

Do you mean the white speaker icon that appears on the right hand side of the taskbar?  Are you trying to adjust it in another way too?

Do you happen to know what sound card / chip your machine has and if it is using the normal Windows sound control or a custom one?

I did a quick check here and the volume control seems happy on my personal test box, but I am aware that different companies have their own tools which replace the standard OS sound control panel, so it is possible there is some rare conflict going on here.

Also what version of Start8 did you roll back to?

This happened to me also. I'm on a Toshiba Satellite P775D. Went into Control Panel / Notification Area Icons and the volume icon shows as "inactive". Clicked on "Turn system icons on or off" and that window shows Volume, Power, and Action Center are greyed out, so you can't turn them on again. This is really annoying.

Also just looked at the steps in this post and nothing worked because everything was set correctly: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19085-system-icons-enable-disable.html

*** UPDATE: After rebooting for the latest Windows Updates (3/12/2013), the sound and power icons are back. All is right in the universe.

I Found The Alternative Way to Bypass This Problem As Well As I Was Having Some Performance Issues After Installing The Star8 Which Was Also Solved Complimentary :w00t: .

So The Simple Solution To This Problem Is To Uncheck(Disable) The"Automatically go to the Desktop When I Sign In" In "Desktop" Menu.

This Is When You Sign Into Your Account,Instead Of Directly Going To The Desktop It Normally Shows You The Modern UI(Windows 8 Start).

And Then After Some Seconds Waiting You Can Directly Jump Into Your Desktop.

The Reason I Feel Is That Directly Jumping Over The Desktop Causes Some System Malfunction(Issue).

Which In Turn I Experienced To Much Lag In My Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook.
