i don´t download much. usually only if something gets mentioned at Desktopian, VirtualPlastic or Shellfront. Shellfront also has an archive for utilities and LS modules, so i don´t have a top5 only a top1: http://www.shellfront.org

download.com
webattack.com

depends on what I need. If it is something techincal, or for a task which I have seen no app for, I go to google first, since download sites have so much irritating click-through. I usually find what I need without having to resort to the-hell-that-is internet portal sites (read: shopping malls). I try to avoid CNET\msn\Yahoo-type places as much as possible...

Used to be WIn95.com, then it was renamed Winfiles.com. But then it was bouhgt by CNet. So I reverted to Hotfiles.com. Then it got bought by CNET. So I guess I now go to CNet. *sigh*
