Very annoying swipe from right feature not disabled.

I have been extremely frustrated with Start8. For one even though I have disabled all hot corners, it still shows bar if I swipe from the right, if I click anywhere to get rid of, it opens the Metro menu ... This extremely annoying as it will do this anytime I use the track pad on the laptop. And for some reason if I just swipe my fingers across the trackpad randomlyit goes to some random place in metro UI, THIS IS SUPER ANNOYING. Please fix this ASAP. I have also been disappointed by the lack of updates and features for a paid software for which it seems there are plenty of free alternatives now and start8 still has many bugs to work out it seems.. Also the lack of a view able "desktop" button in the taskbar is very poor design. I literally had to guess where it was and it worked. Also the menu of star8 is pretty bad, the light grey colored fonts make it easy to glance over and actually see what it says, especially for somebody who has bad eyesight. Ugh...

Swiping is a gesture, not a mouse action.  It is not disabled by Start8.

Start8 has had a number of updates since 1.0.  1.01, 1.02, 1.03 and 1.03a plus the beta releases 1.09 beta 1, 1.09 beta 2 and 1.09 RC to be followed by the 1.1 release version this week.  Most of these updates have introduced new features and they have all addressed any issues that have been reported.  I think you are the first person to complain that we have not been releasing updates.

Regarding light grey fonts, Start8 has no light grey fonts what so ever in the menu other that the bit of text at the bottom saying "Search programs and files".  Fonts are either black (if you have a white OS look), or white (if you do not).  If you mean in the configuration dialog, the contrast is still pretty high and we have not had complaints before.  If that is a concern we can look to add an option for force them to solid black.  The only thing I did notice is the text on the theme drop down option is a little too light on the right hand side description and could do with being tweaked slightly.

On the taskbar point, thats a feature of the operating system not Start8.  Microsoft opted to make the show desktop button basically invisible in Windows 8.

As Zubaz correctly says, swipes are not the same as hot corners.  If you would like an option to disable swipe based activation then that would need to be a new feature and the lack of it is not a bug.
