Need some help or links

Have a new motherboard/cpu on the way (case already arrived) and to celebrate doubling my processor power, I thought I'd create a spiffy new DesktopX theme to match my spiffy new PC. I've only owned DesktopX for two days though. Even after running through the great tutorial linked from this site, there are some things I'm having problems with.

I've created empty and full icons for my trashcan, but I can't seem to locate the script or whatever. I've loaded a theme that has one to compare, but when I load my own theme the script/plugin/whatever isn't in the drop-down list. I figured out how to do the email one with no problem, but I need someone to explain the trash one to me please

I may need some help with a status thingy (cpu load, hard drive space, etc.) but I haven't even started that yet beyond creating a background graphic. Any pointers appreciated.
