not working

I just purchased Multiplicity but it's not working. I'm attempting to control a laptop as the secondary computer, but it won't link to it.  I have Multiplicity installed on both computers, I've disabled the firewall on both the secondary and the controlling PCs, but they won't connect. I get this error when I click the check box: "Please check the firewall settings on the secondary (should not be set to Public/Guest), the computer name and the IP address". Both computers are on a wired ethernet network, the secondary has it's own monitor and mouse. I don't know what to try next!  Any help is appreciated.

I noticed the Multiplicity icon shows "Stardock Multiplicity 2 (disconnected)" on the controlling computer.  That doesn't sound right to me.

Have you set the secondary to be a secondary?
