Now this is fast!

Just upgraded my DSL service from 1 Meg. to 3 Meg. The site really moves along nicely now. Downloads are around 370 Kilobytes/sec. Makes those huge DX files a piece of cake. ( Apparently I can upload at 85 Kilobytes though I haven't tried that yet.)

Make 'em as big as you want, I'm ready!!!

Then look out because I got a 5 MB on coming your way.

I better be careful, I do not want to get the bandwidth hog award for most downloaded large file work

370kb a second!!! I only get 4kb a second on my modem.... Maybe I shouldn't use Juno any more (but I can't afford anything else )

I hate you. I cannot get anything other than 56k. Nobody is in my area yet.

I'll be looking for it Joetheblow. It'll be a good test. (Actually, I updated my MS Office Products today just to test it out. Downloaded the 27 Meg upgrade in about 80 seconds...gotta love it!)

Hey Wise, how about a satelite ISP?

I can do a little better than joetheblow. About 5 to 6KB per sec with MSN

370KB per sec?

At&t had them close by but sold out. The new company hasn't moved close enough yet. I guess they have no money to expand.

Please excuse me for being naive, but what is the function of an ethernet card? Is it just for LAN hook-ups?
Can i use it with DSL or Sat/Dish?

If I'am not mistaken it's just for lan, but you need it to hook up 2 computers to use the same internet line(conection). I hope I'am right.

DSL requires at least one ethernet card to work. That's what they plug the modem into, unless you get a USB. The same goes for Sat/Dish. IIRC its because they are always on connections.

I envy you motion

For the rest of us, it is good to remember that few years ago, we have those light speeds of some bytes/second

I'm glad you will be ready motion!!! Monday August 4th will be what I call a "super release". I'll be dumping all my crap on WinCustomize database for people to see if they like and download it. I will hopefully have a system set up to let people know if the DX will use allot of thier CPU or not and a Laptop ready (as in it won't eat up your battery if your running on it) symbol.

As you can see, I have some major plans....
mmmmuuuhhhhahahahahahaa

Maybe Frogboy will have a connection type/speed poll so that folks can a feel for who's using what.
hint, hint, hint
Hey joetheblow, I have one drawback. My ISP caps my downloads at 10 Gigabytes so try and keep those files smaller than that.
that last poll set me back some $$$$$ when I found out where my computer stood! Dono if I can afford any more comparisons...

Now GoodMorphing, it's only money. If you held the margin on my debt you'd be rich, rich, rich!!!

So you are the reason I keep getting this message sometimes:

"

There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

Please try the following:

Open the www.wincustomize.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Maybe it would be a good idea to put the message board on a separate page that doesn't have logos or pics or anything! So all of that doesn't load over and over. Maybe that would help!

juni, I keep getting that message too. Doesn't matter how much line-speed I have, I still can't get through when there's 'nobody home'.

I know, wincustomize is just too busy at times to serve the hungry masses...but maybe these speed freaks are eating up the bandwith? (although I have adsl at home and 100MB/s at work )
