Bandwidth my friend.

It does seem that this site has been down a lot this week. I wonder if it is just maintenance or bandwidth problems? I do get a little crazy when I can't get on.

What's this?

Is this a sign of things to come?
Is the writing on the wall?

If this is going to be an everyday thing, I wish it would be put on the message board(from,to) so we would know.

Well... this may be right off, but these times started happening right after their second newsletter came. I was thinking that the process of sending that out (by the way, great job!) and getting a lot of people that otherwise wouldn't be so interested to check in might have caused an influx that won't last too long. After all, the newsletter did announce a lot of changes that people probably wanted to check out.

but that is only what I was guessing.

Sheesh... right off means way off

You might be right GoodMorphing. I just read my July edition and it was great. Maybe they can save on bandwidth by just posting in in the news section and letting those who want to read it do so. Who knows.

I demand an explanation as to the poor performance of the WC site. Now! I stay up till 3 A.M. to come to WC and dl and to bitch. Last night was terrible! I have a few choice bones to pick with Stardock about their CD too! Awful. I'm too angry now to type. >

???? news???? Is that only for wincustomize subscribers??? I didn't get a news letter?? and what would that have to do with the site slowdown (or stop).

Bandwidth is a .... terror.

If anyone does not understand how bandwidth works for websites and webservers, check out the going rates for Web Hosts and how much can be transfered per month. Then how much it cost extra per MB.

joetheblow, the news letter goes out to everyone who wants it. On your edit my account there is a box to check if you want it. It's near the bottom of the page. When you email out 300,000 of them it eats up bandwith I guess.

joetheblow, there is a checkbox in your account settings for the newsletter. Just check it off and you'll start getting them.

As for bandwidth, if a few hundred (or thousand) non-regulars get the newsletter all at once, and click on the links to this site all at once, bandwidth would be effected that way.
