Ratings are universal

Yes. Ratings all everywhere. They can really suck. So WindowBlinds 3.4 goes up on C-net and they let anyone rate.

At least here it's apprentices and higher. If you think having a low rating on your skin is frustrating imagine how we feel having our software rammed by some random guy whose only response is "sucks".

"Limited Skinning Capabilities"????? Is that a misprint. What are they talking about? WB skins practically everything.

The whiner is probably complaining that WB doesn't skin his one handed pr0n browsing window.

Universal? Lets not get crazy now.
But I understand your frustration and I sympathise.

But you see, now if I went to Download.com and I was looking for windows skinning application, and I'd have the coice between Stlye XP and Windowblinds, there would be no hesitation on my part: regardless of the ratings (to which I never pay attention), the downloads speak for themselves: Windowblinds got 4,526,325 downlaods while Style XP only has 23,076 downloads. The way I see it: 4 million and a half people can't all be wrong.

""It Sucks"
It will load the skins broken or you will lose part of the screen. "

What ? I have to uninstall WB at once !

I really wonder, how people manage to get the official WB-builds crashing. I bet, this guy never had it installed, or his machine was messed up really bad before...

or his warezed version had a bit of "modified for your pleasure" backdoor code in it...

or his warez crack did...

or he is the typical mentally impaired individual who doesn't have the slightest inclination about how or what skins and skinning are, or even basic customizxation applications...

You know the truth, and that is all that really matters, right?

Hmm, just because some sites use ratings, doesn't mean it's good or better here. This just further proves ratings stink.

TV ratings especially suck. I've seen some great shows get kicked to the curb...

Usually it's a matter of "I downloaded WindowBlinds .98 back in 1999 and it gave problems for me so I'm going to say every version of it sucks forever on."

Kinrik, yes, but usually I find it's the other way around. Most movies that I see rated badly are usually bad, but some movies I see rated as "Masterpiece" (in the TV Guide for example) are... OMG! so boring I could die from watching it!!

What's usually frustrating are the militant "Style XP advocates" who are unaware that when they're pushing Style XP what they are really doing is advocating Microsoft's "skin format" take over. So we end up with people who have not even tried WIndowBlinds or at least the version in question just using its popularity as an excuse to push Style XP.

That is particularly frustrating. I'd be the first to admit that WindowBlinds isn't perfect. But it uses hardly any resources and it doesn't slow down a modern PC in what one would consider a noticeable way (certainly no more than Luna).

Don't get upset Brad about those ridiculous comments, 'cause there are always brainless guys who are giving undeserved comments even to the best products!
"Don't pay attention to the rattings"
ditto adni18...rattings?

Does Michael Jordan walk around smacking everyone in the forehead with his thang? Nope. Why? No need. When you got the M4D Sk11LZ, everyone who is on the same battleground knows it, and to hell with the backseat drivers...

Yes, Kinrik I guess that Bill Gates too, doesn't give any attention to the ratings of his stuff, because they don't have any effect on the sales. Do you think it is the same for Brad or for the artists-skinners in WinCustomize?

WindowBlinds is not good how do you tink and always say (this is normal in a site like this, where the more important author is the WndiwBlinds creator).
StyleXP is not bad. It skins more WindowsXP aspects than WindowBlinds.
But WIndowblinds have a advantage: more expeirence on the market, more customers, the program updates in little time margins, it have addons (buttons, options, plugins), and the more important (comparating with StyleXP):
-A good site with lots of elegant and exquisite skins.
Also, it have a advantage (not only over stylexp): For little amount of money you have the best enhancing Windows suite of programs.

But don't forget the fact that StyleXP only skins Windows XP. WindowBlinds skins all windows OS's (that i know of anyway).

And that's half the problem.

If I won the lottery one day, I'd safetly bet it all on the fact that all the people that have said that Window Blinds sucks are running Windows ME (or a bad installation of 98) which crashes enough by itself without Window Blinds, and Window Blinds only adds to the problems, so they think that there must be something wrong with it because it makes their (already unstable) OS crash.

And the fact that Window Blinds has more advanced capabilities than StyleXP (the ability to add extra buttons to the title bar's (like rollup and always on top) immediately comes to mind) and it's a better program.

That's right Ryan8024!

I wonder why Carlitus said that "StyleXP ... It skins more WindowsXP aspects than WindowBlinds". Is this true? I find it hurt to believe it.
Carlitus has the unregistered version of window blinds.

it's not skinning the scroll bars, some buttons maybe, and he might be using a non-XP skin and clicking the start menu and realising that it's not fully skinned, same thing goes for the button that hides un used icons in the system tray, and also the thing (don't know what it's called) that took the place of the "web page view" from Win 98, ME and 2k.

none of which are the program's fault (with the exception of the scrollbars, which is because he hasn't registered).

Carlitus: do some research before you say a program sucks

No. I'm ObectDesktop customer
But WindowBlinds can skin the toolwindows frames; sometimes does this task in UIS1 mode (as TheGreenreaper commented on a thread on this messageborad, look their skin BlackComb, it works in some apps but crashes sometimes); WinXP skin the toolbars without problems.
I don't say that StyleXP are better. WindowBlinds have more customization options than StyleXP, and WB have more good designed skins.
I don't wish to offend WindowBlinds programmers, their skinners and the vendor Stardock on their website... i only comment the differences between WindowBlinds and STyleXP.
I don't appreciate a Application or a skin reading the comments and rates that posted the users... for experience i know that a good skin can be poor rated, or. a simple and recursive skin are highly appreciated.
Maybe, WIndowBlinds and Winamp are the first popular skinned applications, and the first will be always one step forward than others

ryan8024, i don't said that WindowBlinds sucks, one respect please. My english are veryy poor, i'm making always a big effort to post comments here, but i think that i expressed correctly.
You don't konw wich programs i use. The skinning program i used more times is WindowBlinds (Unregistered and registered, by 16 months ago i use the registered version), and i konw how this programs skin the windows. I used StyleXP 1 month totally, without problems (only defficient uninstall).
Ryan8024, don't comment my attitude with this manner, i don't said: THIS PROGRAM SUCKS, are you who SUCKS the comments? One respect for the others, if yoy wish to listen alternative opinions

Carlitus...I'll help you with your English....I'm Australian, so I speak perfect English....[that's a joke, BTW....not the 'help', the 'perfect']....
I don't get it.

I'm an Australian and whenever I hear anyone from other countries speak (in particular New Zealand. Did you watch the Tri-series Cricket earlier this year Jafo? ) they (almost) always sound like dickheads. Of course, that's probably because I'm used to Aussie accents, but you can't seriously tell me that Kiwi accents sound normal, can you?

(My apologies to anyone here from NZ who might be offended by this post)
