Thank you grayhaze. I thought I was close to a reconciliation in my thread with David K. Your sarcasm in this thread has shown me that people do not really want reasonable discourse to arrive at a solution.

In the other thread, I was trying. I realized I over-reacted and I was willing to swallow my pride and discuss the situation with David.

Now, that may be all thrown out the window.

My point was that I'm tired of people complaining endlessly about supposed injustices against them, but not trying to find a mutually acceptable solution to the problems they throw virtual tantrums over.

It wasn't directed toward any individual people, as the things I mentioned have happened time and time again here by a range of different people.

I just don't see the point in all these people leaving messages on the board saying 'I'm leaving and deleting all my work because of such-and-such', without even trying to sort their problems out first. It's unhelpful and unconstructive, and just puts a depressing tone on the time spent at this site.

I also can't be bothered with 'trolls' who deliberately make immature comments and think they're the bigger person for it. That one was directed at a particular person by the way, and he knows who he is. Don't you Lecrayon?

I very much doubt that what I said will change anything to do with your comments though motion, as to be honest you're one of the few to have made some constructive criticism after your initial outburst.

I'm sure all the complaints about the rating system aren't falling on deaf ears, and that a compromise will be made somewhere along the line.

Oh, and for the record, the only sarcasm in my post was in the title. Everything else I said consisted of honest observations of the state of play around here of late.

Again, it looks like I've over-reacted. I am sorry for misiterpreting your post. I really did think it was being said "tonge-in-cheek". From now on, I'll keep to my own thread until I've ironed this out.

Grayhaze, you ever considered opening up a blog site? I recently started one (draginol.stardock.com). You are a really good writer.

While I also don't care for the rating system. I have to agree with Grayhaze.

I think it stems from swallowing your frustrations and saying to yourself, "It will get better." Eventually this builds up and explodes. While it is not healthy, it happens.

ahhhh.... very insightful stuffs seem to happen here. motion, I hope you stay and help with the situation with the ratings. I am sure something can be worked out. Try posts for peoples opitions or ideas as to how they should be "rated".

I do not like the ratings but I have to admit they are and probably should be apart of the site. Much like grades (A,B,C,D,F) the number system of ratings fall under what is called the Bell Curve. And much like the curve most people fall in the "c" range of talent or the "5" range. It is always looked as bad but in fact the system insists on there being a average. It is because of that reason that many school systems accross America are starting to use a new system that does not neccacarily focus on how average you are as a student (or a artist in this case) but on how the person is progressing.

1 = excellent
2 = fair (or average)
3 = redo (or restart as oppossed to YOU FAIL!!)

Some schools are using this system or a portfolio style system to educatae and grade a student (artist) ability to work and improve.

So try not to put to much on the rating motion, and focus more on making this site a better place to be.

I think you staying is more inportant than leaving.

And as far as Stardock using artist skins the answer is yes. Are artists using Stardock to get to many users and people to view their work and possibly get noticed by someone and having thier work be stored and maintained (Maintainance is very impostant to ANY site) and downloaded by thousands of users who would have most likly not have seen it? The answer is yes also.

It is a 2 way street folks. It really is. Some artists are just doing it for fun (or whatever) but do not be surprised if throught the community you go not gain notice or popularity through your name and possibly get paid for something you do for fun

Don't get it twisted, it realy is a 2 way street. It is just harder to see how the artist are using this site or the effort to design, build and maintaina internet site.
