Maybe you want to know why:

- rating system, unfair and biased towards popular authors. DavidK, I had a 3 as a starter by one of my cursors. You obviously didnt rate it. I changed the theme and got a second 3, after the 3rd change it became a 4. I want my work to be displayed!

- comments I gave to make someones work better were erased. He saw it as an insult I guess, while it really needed some improvement. That happened twice. Why not contact and debate.

- lots of questions I asked and sometimes more than one time stayed unanswered.

- Because my view on WC is unbiased and I treat the king the same as the subjects, I got a hostile approach. I don't need that in my life.

- I am a skilled artist, not with photoshop or any other paintprogram, but on canvas. I refuse to defend myself if moderators think otherwise. I don't care if my work is moderated, I do care if popular authors aren't while the so called "criteria" where a work is moderated on isn't met on their work.

- as I heard from one of the moderators this site is about skinning and not art, but what I have lately read, everyone thinks they are an artist. It doesn't add up. Even the guy who told me that thinks it.

- conclusion: a biased community where there isn't much room for fairness. I don't want to be judged by such rules.

- many more events I don't even want to repeat.

Skinning can be considered to be a form of art, but a good artist doesn't necessarily make a good skinner. This is a skinning site plain and simple. That's the way we like it, and those of us who also dabble in other forms of art do so at other more appropriate sites.

By the way, I feel like saying something about your claim that this site is biased toward popular skinners. My first skin submitted to this site, 'dinks' for WindowBlinds, was received with just as many compliments and helpful comments as any work submitted by any of the so-called popular skinners. It was the response to my first skin that spurred me on to create more.

So thanks WinCustomize for being one of the fairest, most unbiased skinning sites I've ever known.

Lecrayon: Most of your skins were not that good. Some were. I feel that your ratings were fair.

I agree grayhaze, but if I see wallpapers that have big mistakes when it comes to light/shadow and something is said there in the criteria, I am really doubting the level of the moderators. I am sorry to say that. They have to apply the rules to everyone. Skinning to me isnt art, its ARTY. I can change my doorpost in another colour, but that doesnt say you are able to create depth with colour. Totally different profession, and thats why you see so many abstract wallpapers. There you can disguise your lack of the teachings of colour.

Well I think you'd be better off leaving than staying anyway after insulting the talents of so many fine artists here.

If you honestly believe that the amount of skill it takes to create a skin for something like WindowBlinds is akin to 'changing your doorpost to another colour', then you're no artist at all.

I can honestly say that one comment alone has made me more angry than any other I've ever read here. Just because what we do doesn't equate to your arrogant view of what art should be doesn't give you the right to criticise an entire discipline for lack of skill.

I happen to think that most 'modern art' requires little or no imagination, but I still recognise it as an artform and acknowledge that there are those modern artists who put a great deal of thought and emotion into their work.

If you got low ratings then it's no wonder. As I read it you just admitted to not uploading your best pieces. So what? You just throw the scraps for the unfortunate people on wincustomize to gather up? You constantly talked about trying to make the place better but I haven't seen much evidence of it. Recently you have been throwing comments aabout implying the admins are favouring certain artists over others. How is this constructive?

Motion I could understand. If he got a widly different rating for a different colour of the same wallpaper then I could see why he would be annoyed. But I could see why it could easily happen. There is more than one admin on the site. They each will notice different things and judge skins and wallpapers by different standards. The only way to get the same judgement on all skins/walls would be for one person to rate thenm all. That would be a major task and is extremely unlikely to happen.

I really can't understand why all you people are against Lecrayon. Am I missing something? Is he done something wrong?
I only know, that he is one of the most active members of Message Board and a very good and informed artist.

I think to be pedantic, [as is my wont...-yes, 'wont', not 'want'], 'skinning' is a craft, created by artists.
Some 'purists' may fail to see 'artistic ability' being demonstrated in programs such as Photoshop purely for inherent prejudice towards traditional art medium, but it's very real, all the same.

I know it's painful when your 'baby' is accepted by all as 'ugly' when you declare it's yours and therefore MUST be beautiful, but that's life.

In this community, as with Real Life [tm], you will find 'givers' and 'takers', and just like Xmas, it's better to 'give' than 'receive'.

Rather than 'what has this site/community done to me?', ask 'what have I done for it?'...

I agree. I've had a few "ugly babies" in my skinning career (OK no wisecracks, its too easy) but I understood early on that if I was going to open myself up to criticism I better be willing to take it, good or bad. Some will be undeserved, some will be nasty for nastiness' sake, but most will be constructive or even complimentary. Besides, how many of us have "burst on the scene" with immediate acceptance? OK adni you can sit down

Yes I understand Grayhaze.
I dont agree with him in this point, because I believe that it needs a lot of talent to create a decent skin, but do you think that we have to crucify him for that?
