Cannot find where to download Object Desktop software that I just paid for

Just renewed my subscription but where do I download the Object Desktop software nowadays?

  • It does not turn up in Stardock Central in the New Software or any other section, although it registers as paid and active in the "Subscriptions" section.
  • It does not turn up in "My Downloads" on the Stardock site. All I am seeing is a trial version.
  • The old setup in Stardick Central where you could select products that you paid for, and download them, seems to be gone, so what's replaced it...

Also: I believe there is a mixup with my email address which I tried rectifying several times to no avail. I used a disposable email address when I first signed up with Stardock, several years ago because I did not want to get spammed and did not anticipate that the email address would be linked to the license.

I have written to Stardock a couple of time to get this email address changed to a genuine one. I've also attempted to change it in My Account, and it registers as changed there. Yet, in order to be able to activate my renewal, I had to use this nonsense email, as my subscription could not be located with my genuine gmail address and not with the previous Object Desktop OEM license either. I would be really grateful for advise on how to permanently alter the email associated with my Object Desktop subscription. Possibly this setup leads to even more licensing issues than I already have... Not liking the Stardock licensing setup and it's not got better since last time I set it up. :annoyed:

I don't show any support tickets for the email addresses associated with this account.

I think I can see what's going on, but I need more information.

Please send me a PM with your real and disposable account and I should be able to associate all your products and subscriptions to the real one..

Thanks, just about to do it, but why can't I see the software for download?

Assuming there must be something wrong, or this is an extremely confusing setup.

When I try to download some of the products from the regular download page, it ends up in a basket with a prompt to pay even though I am logged in, and the products are available in Object Desktop.

Received an email saying that I can download the software, but clicking on the link takes me to a page where I can NOT download the software!

Inconsistent e-mail addresses seem to cause a lot of problems.  Once Zubaz gets that straightened out, everything else may very well fall into place.

Indeed.  What Dave said. (also, removing some of the images)

I definitely can't complain about Zubaz' help with quickly resolving this (the emails was the the problem). However, this is the third or fourth time I have to spend a completely disproportionate time with a simple software installation, for Stardock software because of excessive licensing trouble. I was equally frustrated a couple of years ago, when I last upgraded OS or whatever the issue was, then a year or two before that. Now - Stardock hasn't got any real competition in its niche, and my personal philosophy is to pay for software that I use on a daily basis. So I remain a customer.  But I was very close to just getting a cracked version of Windowblinds, or dropping Stardock altogether last time this happened. The philosophy seems to be "better one annoyed paying customer than 10 happy pirates". Sadly a phenomenon we see a lot online these days. Audibles audio books is another really good example of that.

As demonstrated here, we work our asses off to give our customers good service and good value.  In software, as in life, there are glitches.  And, as we see them, we try to fix them.

Nor can I when I recently had a similar issue.

It was mostly my fault for not bringing it to someones attention sooner.

I have discovered though that if you notice any inconsistancies in your account, it is best to report it sooner rather than later. It will get fixed that much faster.

BTW, mentioning using cracked software is in very poor form.

The 'cracked' option isn't generally wise to discuss on a Stardock site, but I'm glad you didn't get a 'cracked' version, cordelia0507.

They often are infected with malware and you might have ended up losing your identity, screwing up your computer and/or getting banned. Also, they don't work correctly... so nothing gained and much possible loss. Things to consider.

This has been resolved, thanks Zubaz.

Care to share just how it was resolved? I just had to do a fresh clean reinstall of Windows 7 Pro because an upgrade to Windows 8 went bad and I lost my favorite program from Object Desktop, Object Edit! How do I reinstall it if it doesn't show up in Stardock Central even though I have a good Object Desktop Subscription til 2013?

Mizreal, Object Edit is a legacy program. You'll have to log in to the Stardock Store and go to downloads to get it. It will not show up in SDC since it is a legacy program.

I don't see it under Legacy programs in the Store. I've looked. It's still a perfectly great editor. It's a shame they abandoned it.

I don't see it either...hmmm.

That's what most Stardockians use.
