Problems with SkinStudio

After a prolonged absence from skinning WindowBlinds, I decided to fire up SkinStudio and get back to work on the myth that is my 8-ball skin. Now, even though I haven't used SkinStudio in a few months, I've been downloading and installing each new version as it comes along on ODNT, so I'm at a point where I'm using the latest version.

To cut a long story short, I'm just downright confused! Nothing seems to be in the same place, or work the same as it did back around the GUIOs. I'm having major problems using the program, and it seems like nothing actually works the way it should.

A good example is the fact that the preview window has somehow got seperated from the main window, and I can't get it back there. When I move the preview window around I get trails of screen garbage left in its wake. Cutting images from the template image seems to work in a completely different way, and the zoom preview vanishes at all the wrong times. These are just a few of the problems I'm having, and so far all I've managed to do is mess up what I already had completed!

So am I doing something wrong? Has someone changed the world around while I was sleeping? I feel inadequate...

By the way, 8-ball's looking quite nice in Fireworks now. It looks like I might have to bring it together in Notepad now though, so don't hold your breath...

Had to uninstall and reinstall. That got rid of the trails and put the preview window back into the main window. Don't know about the other problems.

/me is glad he's still afraid to use skin studio and just adds attributes with the code editor after the skin is done...

grayhaze... notepad for the UIS, Fireworks to create and cut all the images and Skin Studio to add the [fonts] section...

I did what WiseOldMan said and things seem to be working a little better now. So thanks for that.

I think I've lost the patience to be able to go back and do everything in Notepad again. I did that with 'dinks', and it took me absolutely ages. I've at least managed to get some of the skin done with SkinStudio now tonight, so hopefully I should have something workable in a few days.

So when are you going to bring out Dinks for XP? That was my most used skin till XP came along.

Please, beg, grovel...

I did start doing some work on an update for dinks just after the GUIOs, but I decided that so much needed updating and fixing that I'd just create a new version from scratch. As with so many of my skins, this currently only exists inside Fireworks, so once I get back into the flow of skinning again I should be able to get everything together.

I'm also trying to balance my time between skinning, photography, building a huge new site I've been working on, and looking for a job. So things are progressing a little slowly at the moment, and new skins will tend to get priority.
