Problems

My problems seem to be wallpaper related. I'm having issues with some themes loading their wallpaper. The correct path is setup in LSTS, and it usually changes over (with one exception), but then, upon opening the popup, or anything other window over the desktop, the background disappears in the area covered by the window, to reveal the default blue background of windows 2k.

Any thoughts on this?

Also, occasionally, when I recycle, I get an "exception while quitting module" error and am force to log off and back on to reinit the shell.

Thanks.

Also, on the Sputnik theme for litestep, whenever it's recycled or selected as the new theme from LSTS, the background image does appear, but then the graphic disappears just a few seconds thereafter (after all the modules are loaded) and is replace by a solid color (greenish, matches the ambience of the theme).

I'm slightly confused.

That will be the path to the wallpaper....it is missing an auto-load paper, if you see that sort of thing with the popup....painting through to a blank 'colour'.
Check your paths to any wallpaper display, or if you actually have the wall at all that is being referenced.

It's a common 'problem'...

Yeah. It's a common problem with a simple solution......one that I explored the moment I noticed the problem....

....anything else?

You mean that didn't fix it?

Well...I'm betting a leaky module then....possibly one again without a background image.
It's difficult to diagnose LS issues...there can be millions....multiply the number of modules by the number of versions of LS builds.....quite a few.

Just see what amptitle.dll will do to you on recycle....there's one 'issue' [got that one last night....switched to jamp].

Try commenting out one module at a time, keeping the desktop or jdesk and the popup and see what happens.

If it ain't still a path error, or a dll conflict, or a missing bmp/module, then it's maybe a corrupted file in your download somewhere....

If you have a module reading/indicating cpu usage and mem, etc....that'd be the first one I'd comment out...

Oh...and an error in the popup coding can give you redrawing probs too...

But just because the first 'possible' is too simple.....check it twice....you'd be surprised how stupid step.rc errors can be/make you feel....

I get that exception error sometimes with my Indie build.....doesn't cause any problems though...build 30/5/02....an unhappy module mix is a possible...

I just double checked all the paths to the background image. They are all correct, so that's not it.

I'll start commenting out modules one at a time and see if that is the issue.

as far as i know Pharoe often uses something to autoload the matching wallpapers. you change the wall with LSTS, so you don“t need this.

in Sputnik the wallpaper gets changed with mzscript. open all(!) *.rc files and search for this line:

*Script Start !wallpaper .stretch $Wallpaper$

you can delete this line. you also can delete the line that loads LSWChanger:

LoadModule $ModulesDir$Lswchanger.dll
