Greetings.
I am a new player to the game, and have been trying, unsuccessfully, to create a playable custom map using Galaxy Forge. I play on a laptop which has Win 7 installed.
Here is what I have done/tried to do:
Open GF, and build a map. Place map in the GF directory located at C:\Users\*User*\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\GalaxyForge The map appears in the list of playable maps, but I (and all AI players) are auto-defeated upon starting the game. Removing the *.galaxy file from that directory and placing it anywhere else causes the map to not be selectable in game.
Created a semi-custom map using the Map Designer function within the game. The map is located in C:\Users\*User*\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\MapDesigner I can play any map created using this function, but as you know, they are not truly custom.
Created a semi-custom map using Map Designer, saved it, then closed and re-opened the game. The map is located in the above directory, and is playable. I then closed the game, and opened that map with GF. I made a single modification, which was to simply change a planet's x/y coordinates. I made no other modifications. I then saved the map. I opened the game, and the map was visible in the Map Designer section. I select the map, and start the game, and get the instant defeat message upon starting the game. I exited, then moved the map to the GF section, opened game, and same result, auto-defeat.
After some additional searching, I found a tip about editing the galaxy.manifest file, but that doesn't work either, and actually makes many of the normal maps disappear from the selectable lists.
I've been trying to make this work for going on 6 hours now, and am getting super frustrated. I did take the time to inspect the map after the auto-defeat, and one thing I noticed was that the loyalty of my home world was 25% instead of the expected 100%. I do not know enough about the game to check other indicators.
If anyone has any insight as to what I may be doing wrong, or if there is some sort of secret location to place the map to allow it to be playable, I would most appreciate it.
