And just for a clarification:

I've been to 2 different schools in the last couple of years. I've done IPT at both of them.

BOTH of my teachers (and some of the IT technicians at my old school) kept making up very wierd references about trying to combine computer programming with normal life. For example, my new teacher was telling us that initialising variables as intergers (in pascal), is like trying to put tupperware in a cupboard. I sort of lost him after that point, but my other teacher was like that too (but not quite that bad).

Can someone please clear something up for me and tell me if everyone that knows computer programming is like that?

i know what programming is like. been doing it for years.

basically you just tell the machine to follow a series of logical steps. people use lots of confusing analogies, but if you can look past them and just think about manipulating pieces of information (variables) it becomes a lot easier.
