Unable to activate v2

I have been using fences v1 for some time now on a couple of PC's and have recently opted to purchase 15 licenses for v2 and make more use of it and the new features in v2.

From what I have read I was under the impression that if it was not possible to connect to the internet due to firewall limitations the software would allow activation by sending details via a web link or email. However if I click the "Unlock previous purchase" button which is where I would expect to be the correct place to register, nothing happens at all.

If I click "Try fences" then after a short while I am given the option to register via a web link for the trial, which is what I was expecting in order to activate with the key I have been sent.

Most of the computers that Fences is to be installed on are not not internet connected and due to company policy can not be even for a quick registration.

Am I doing something wrong here or is it not possible to register your software without internet connectivity?

Any help would be appreciated,

Paul.

I opened NQI-279-52620 10/16 for this issue but have not yet received a response.

I have had a response. The suggested solution didn't work so have submitted logs as requested.

I was expecting an email notification of a response so didn't keep checking the ticket, until I did get an email telling me the case would be closed!

I have been able to install Fences on the PC's that are internet connected with no problems.

Did you resolves your activation issues bmyers2?

I am still not having any luck with activation here. The instructions I have regarding offline activation don't take into account that the program is not giving me an option to enter any registration or activation details, in order to then submit them via the offline method.

Thanks for pointing out the new version

This DOES allow me to enter all of the details and creates the file which I could not before. However the activation web page now does not seem to like the file for activation :(

If I use the web mode it gives the error "Sorry, but no response string was returned. Please make sure you have input the proper information during the login process".
If I use the email mode it sits with the same message "Waiting for text submission."

The first PC I have tried I did use our company name rather than the persons name who purchased it so I realised this might cause problems and have used his name now on a different PC but to no avail. All other details are correct, same email used to register, correct password for the account login and the serial number has been cut and pasted.

Have you tried putting the number in directly? Can you try another browser?

I did try a variety of things yesterday but have retried today. I have tried Firefox, IE and Safari. On a different internet PC I have tried Firefox and Chrome. All behave exactly as I described in the last post, with the exception of Safari which takes me to a page stating "There was a problem loading the page, please try again later.".

My previous cut and pasting was a PDF print of the downloads page showing the serial number, making sure there are no leading or trailing spaces or other characters, but this time I have tried manually typing the serial number as suggested and checked carefully that it is exactly as it should be (watching out for 0/O characters etc).

I am trying to activate as follows:

Welcome to Fences dialog shown on startup:
       Clicked [Unlock previous purchase]

   Activate purchased features dialog shows:
       Email:  <left blank>
       Password:  <left blank>

Clicked [I have serial number] button instead

   Stardock Account Registration dialog shows:
       Entered details for
Stardock account email: <email used to purchase and also same address for Stardock account login>
           Password: <stardock account password>
Serial number: typed as shown on account downloads page

       Clicked [Register]

   Registration failed as expected

   Offline activation dialog shows:
Firstname: first name of person who made purchase entered
Lastname: last name of person who made purchase entered
Email: email address used on purchase and for stardock account
Serial number: typed as shown on account downloads page

   Activation file generated as stated.

Am I filling anything in wrong?

Should I also be filling in the email and password on the very first screen even though I am not going to try and login/activate from this screen?

Does the serial number need the - characters in it or not? (I am including these, also entering it all in upper case).

Also if I use my existing Fences settings from v1, v2 crashes whenever I try to right click the desktop and go to configure Fences. I realise this is a separate issue and it would be easier to recreate my Fences, but if it would help should I be sending in log files of this crash somehow?

Thanks for all the help so far.

Email has been sent with the original support ticket number in the subject of JLN-204-16640.

As a side note, I will have another 10 PC's to activate offline.

Thanks.

My activation worked. Am I best to create the activation files for the rest of the PC's I have bought licenses for and post them in batches now to the ticket?

thanks.
