GUI League of Designers Association

some more info perhaps? is it something you saw somewhere, or something you thought would be a good idea?

ahh... whoops.

this was something I thought would be a good idea. I know there are not allot of professional skinners or companies out there but I have always felt that other design associations started on the wrong foot. Architecture, engineering, interior design etc, have there problems and no real standard and are not as powerful as they could be.

Just wanted other peoples opinions on the idea.

oh and GUI is Graphic User Interface. In case anyone was wondering.

How about a Designers Copyright protocol group....
"GUI Designers Ethics Department"....or....GUIDED...

Actually, I'd take a page from Robert Fripp's book and call it "The League of Crafty Skinners". Too bad it doesn't make a neat acronym.

I stil like GOO wee LDA. Did you join the GOO wee LDA yet?? It has a lot of benifits.

It could be like the wincustomise subscription. It could also set standards (or help set standards so we can break them) for how it is put together. Like a GUI language. It would also help so that design "firms" do nt under bid each other to a degree that your basically giving it away. Like for exaple, now siute with 10 programs can be commisioned under 12,000. those who brake the rule a most likely scrubs or silly because they could have gotten more out of there work then what they asked for.

Too many skin sites with too much self-interest, bordering on pathological hatred for this idea to get off the ground without 'neuroses of the liver'.
Although the 'idea' is interesting, it's implimentation would be fraught with angst......'elitism' would be the catch-cry of the dissenters....

How about 'GUI Guild of United Individuals'.....GUIGUI....

Since we would be considered "Elitists" anyway, and therefore suspected of hating and distrusting anything that isn't pure "GUI" related, lets discard all pretense and call ourselves the GUI Fraternity Of Xenophobes. For short, just "Gui Fox"

Couldn't we be concidered "elitists" any way? How many people are part of the site and then how many actually interact with it?

And the GUI League would be a sort of stepping stone, not a us or nothing. Gust to give giude lines for artists, designers, skinners,onlookers and newbees. Also if someone wanted to refer to it because they are really getting it to skinning, then it is possible, like conduct or copy rights. I was thinking there would even be room for those to totally ignore it. So you can work with it or toss it to the side and throw eggs at it. You can add to it or call it names and disassosciate yourself from it.

One thing for sure, it will cause discussion. I think that is the best part. I just hope nobody wants to lay a smack down on the idea and those who indorse it.

Wow!!! Jafo has some real acranim skils GUIDIND HANDS sound really cool. Or even the GUILT one would be nice and maybe more excepted by others who refuse or do not like the idea too much.
