Do users know that.....

If you have Object Bar and download a ObjectBar style called Windows XP you can set it to *Use WindowBlins Skin* and it will change the Object Bar skin to match th windowblinds skin.

I am not sure if I did downloaded it or it came the with Object Bar program.

I think it should be updated and re-released so others an have it.

Any thoughts????

I'm not sure when this was added to ObjectBar, but it has been a feature for quite a while, at least since when I bought OD at the beginning of 2002. If your point is that Stardock never said anything about this feature, I don't think I agree. If you go to the Objectbar Documentation on Stardock's site,
https://www.stardock.com/products/objectbar/docs/ go to Chapter 3 (Skinning Object bar the easy way), which is all about importing existing Windowblinds skins into OB.

Oh no not that. Not manually. That is not what I ment. I ment outomatically if you have the objectbar set to *Use WindowBlinds Skins*. Maybe I did not see the part your talking about Real. But from what I read it is showing you how to do it manually.

I have this style called Windows XP in my object bar and if I set it to use the skins of windowblinds it works (that is if the author designed it for use with WindowsXP)

Just wondering if anyone else has it.

Quoted from the Docs mentioned earlier:

"Select the ‘Windows XP’ option from the list of skins available, and then select ‘*Use WindowBlinds Skin*’ from the available styles.

Click Load and ObjectBar will work it’s magic. Within seconds you will have the basis of a Lunar Base ObjectBar theme."

"for the link." that is. not fr the link.

I don't seem to have that option. It is under the "select skin from alternate theme?" BTW, the link www.stardock/products/objectbars/docs only shows a header - no detail (for me anyway).

Well, a refresh brought the whole document. I'll take some time to read it and see if my problem is addressed.

It is included with ObjectBar, but I don't think a lot of people know it is there.

It is a standard feature of Object Bar - I use it all the time, with a customised bar layout.

Not all WB skins seem to work with it though. Some do not convert at all and some finish up looking a little strange. It seems skins with XP support are most likely to work, but that is no guarantee. I have often wondered why that is, perhaps someone could enlighten us?

I think the problem is that ObjectBar can't import certain image formats well, if at all. WB skins with only .BMPs in their XP parts tend to import fine, while skins that use .TGA files do not.

Newest OB from ODNET (1.2) supports .tga files in WB imports. And if you have a OB XP style start button and try to import a WB skins that does not support XP, you can get some STRANGE results....

ok, i'm missing something. i can't seem to get this working. when i go to Theme Browser, there is no theme listed that says "Windows XP (use windowblinds skin)". has it moved to a different place within ObjectBar? I'm using version 1.21 build 601.

In the Theme Browser, choose "Windows XP (WindowsXP Beige v0.95)". Yours may say something different in the parenthesis. Then in the Style dropdown at the bottom of the Theme Browser, choose "*Use WindowBlinds Skin*".

So the vertical OB I created can't use the current windowblind skin? If that's the case, it would explain why I'm having so much difficulty with this.

That feature has been there for quite some time, and it is standard with the OD and registered versions. It is not available in shareware. I use that option all the time. To work best, you need to use it with XP supported skins.

Well, I have the registered version (& most of the other ODNT stuff) and I'm running XP pro. I currently have Radiant as my WB for example, I should be able to get the Radiant skin on my vertical OB but no joy. Perhaps I'm missing something in the config but I've tried everything I can see.

Under theme options, I selected "Convert current windowblinds skin for use by bars in this theme" and I do get a dialogue showing the theme being converted. Radiant isn't listed in the "Use skin from this theme" options. Under "Use a skin from another theme" and "Use WindowBlinds Skin" I have Beige, Bleu, WB3, WinXP Blue, Copper, Olive, Ocean, Jeans and Silver which are nice but no Radiant to be found anywhere. "WB Skin Import" only lists Bleu.
