Clock is not updating?

When I use start8 the windows clock is not updating? When I open Windows 8 Start it's updating the clock to the actual time. Is this a bug?

This is not something we have encountered or have seen reported before.

Are you using the final version of Windows8 and is this on a real machine or a Virtual machine?

I'm experiencing the same issue.  The task bar is not updating on my main monitor when in Desktop.  It IS updating on my two additional monitors however.  After entering Metro and returning to the Desktop, it updates briefly, then the taskbar display freezes again.  This only started up in the last few days.  The taskbar still appears to be updating correctly behind the scenes, but the display of it is not.

Using Win8 final release on a real machine.

Do you have any additional toolbars enabled?

Nope, just the standard.  Task bar is shown on all Displays.  "Peek" is enabled, task bar is locked, does not hide.

One thing I have noticed is that after a reboot, it seems to work fine for a while.  It's when I come back to it after it having been idle for a good length of time (multiple hours) that it seems to have frozen.

Hi

Having exactly the same issue here using 1.11

Unloading and re-loading Start8 (Start8 UNLOAD / start8 LOAD) fixes it until the next idle period.

Any true fix ?

I believe this is a Win 8 problem. Same problem occurs for people who don't use Start8. Google.

I have 3 computers, 2 64-bit Win8, no problem. One 32-bit Win 8, problem.

Quick cure. Unlock Taskbar, drag it to another position, and back again. Then lock it.

I have to do this once a day.

Regards

Kai

As mentioned by kaikierke, people without Start8 are having the same problem on Windows 8 so it is unlikely to be Start8 causing this.  We actually have someone at Stardock whose clock stops updating on Windows 7 after their screensaver turns on.

Unloading Start8 would force the taskbar to resize itself which is probably why that works.  This is effectively the same as the drag taskbar to another location fix.

I'm experiencing this issue as well and I doubt it's caused by Windows.  I uploaded a screencap ... http://gellos.net/stardock.jpg... You can see the difference between Start8 and the system's clock. (after clicking the incorrect time on the Start8 toolbar)  I wish there was a start8 auto-reset every hour or so to avoid this.  thanks, Matt

gelloscapital: Start8 is not responsible for the clock on the taskbar, that's the original Windows taskbar.

What you are seeing is a known bug that's been in Windows since at least Windows 7 where for some reason the OS taskbar stops updating the clock correctly.  There are reports of this on Windows 7 and Windows 8 without Start8.
