I am not sure if this is a bug or not. I have had times where I have killed a monster army only to find another army on the same spot. I than have to fight that army. ther can be 4 or 5 armies stacked on the smae spot.
That's not a bug - several armies can exist on the same spot.
Unfortunately, FE doesn't have the option for those armies to combine or reinforce, so you'll have to fight them one by one.
Stacking armies is imo bad idea...no positive effects (aka support), it only makes the strategic map more chaotic.
