stupid question?

I'm running windows Me and I just wanted to know how to make it so that the text under the desktop icons do not have boxed colour for a background. I went into the display-> appearance and was not able to get rid of it. (it won't allow me to have no colour selected.

One of you must know how to fix this, right?

You can do this if you have WindowBlinds or you have WindowsFX. In WindowsBlinds Advanced Configuration Dialog, select "Settings" from the icon list on the left. Now on the right, scroll down until you see "Enhance Desktop Elements". Make sure the "Make desktop icon text backgrouns transparent" is checked.

To use a sledge-hammer to crack an acorn....run LiteSTEP and do away with Icons altogether....
