i met the net guy

he was normal

he wanted me to visit

(he told me where to come)

i drove down his street

he wasn't home

which is how my first words to him became i-was-just-leaving-a-note

instead of the grand entrance i may have planned. was i able to.

and why his first words to me were

oh. my. god.

not the stuff of murder mysteries, really

just ordinary

his living room a familiar set from a film watched on-and-off for ages

I have a cousin that went all the way to Ireland to meet someone she met on the net. She is back in the states now but had a great time(not that I think what she did was wise). I know a couple of happily married couples that met via computer. One via BBS before internet and one via Yahoo personals. I wouldn't go to someone's house though. You are just lucky he wasn't a Jeff Dahmer type. In the future, consider meeting in a neutral setting with witnesses

One of my closest friends cousins met an Internet chcik from Sweden... and yes boys, she typafies everything that is excellent about Scandanavian girls.

That was over a year ago, and she came back here and they are still together!!!!

I have also met someone from the Internet, and trust me guys, ask for a recent photo!!! LOL

muggaz, pet. how nice of you to stop by. i'm concerned after jills' advice above that i may be encouraging people to be careless about this stuff. so i should add that a) i represented myself honestly as a FRIEND for a year, and we were/are both partnered so there was never any suggestion of that stuff. b) our major common interest was animals ... specifically dogs (of which i was accompanied by two, one of which was my hubbys' bull terrier) and c) i haven't done this before, and don't plan on doing it again. (but if i ever do, i will use jills' advice above and suggest others do the same). kudos to you jill for making that point, it is a good one.

now, i'll just pop on over and check on your latest crisis muggaz. don't disappoint me, now ;)

I've been on a few internet dates (get out the branding iron and burn 'LOSER' onto my forehead now) and they've been fine. Sure, there was the guy who asked me to join him and his 'friend' for a threesome (he seemed to think that because we were both Australian I'd be into it - as though all of us Aussies automatically sleep with each other) Or the one who told me he shaved his balls over our first drink. Or the one with the missing toe... Actually, maybe there's a reason that I've not gone on one for a while?

I'm glad that this friendship worked out for you, migs.
