A thought about the Wallpaper section

I was just scrolling through the wallpapers section checking out all these amazing wallpapers people make, somehow. I've made 1 or 2 wallpapers myself, and I may post one of them up here. However, I was wondering.. for those that do them in Photoshop, it'd be really cool for some people to post the .psd file of the wallpaper so those of us that are still in the beginning stages of computer graphics could look at what effects were used to accomplish each feat.

Don't know if anyone would actually do this, but for anyone feeling generous enough to do so, I'd really appreciate anyone with some good wallpapers to do this and send me a copy of it at [email protected] if you wouldn't mind taking the time. I'd love to be able to get more into this and contribute to the collection of wallpapers.

That would invite rips beyond what we see now....ownership could then be challenged and what not. More often than not, just having the .psd file with layers would still not be enough to acurately show processes that are used to achieve certain effects....the downloader may not have the proper fonts, filters or plug-ins, etc. A better bet would be to look up some tutorial sites...

Just my 2 cents....

I agree with james, take a look at some of the tutorial sites around the web, there are some superb ones. just type "photoshop tutorials" into a search engine like http://www.google.com and you will be amazed at the help that is available for free.
here are a few:
http://www.pankpages.com

http://www.effectlab.com

http://www.phong.com

http://www.eyeball-design.com

Have fun!

I had no idea that claiming ownership of someone else's wallpapers was such a problem. I understand now one of the reasons why they wouldn't want to do that...

Also, I've looked on Google before for "photoshop tutorials" and seem to only find really basic ones that aren't really all that good. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out and see what more I can learn from them.

Thanks for the replies, I now feel enlightened on this matter

on top of the ownership issues many .psd files are extremely large in size (10MB+) and therefore would cost stardock alot in bandwidth.

I think it would be safe to say that we'd not accept psd files, to protect people's copyrights out of principle, irrespective of their size...

Ok, that's cool, I understand completely. While those of us that have cable or DSL, it wouldn't be too time consuming to download, the bandwidth issue and copyright issues still remain. Thanks for all the replies, and I'll just continue enjoying the wallpapers in their current state.

elbirth,
www.deviantart.com has a section for *resources*. In it you will find PS Actions, Brushes and .PSD files for your perusal....
