Titan + Colonize. Is it possible?

Is it actualy possible to give a Titan Colonize ability? I mean, why can't a titan colonize planets? =D It's almost of the size of a moon and definetely houses tens or hundreds of thousands of people...since colonisation capships can do it, why cant a titan, which is alot bigger and can house all of the equipment...

Anyway, back to buisness - Is it actualy possible to change one of the titan's abilities to serve as Colonize ability? The game seems to react voilently to every modification to the abilities, besides the very straightforward values like damage percent or health...

And if it is possible, can anyone give me any advice about how to get this done? I mean, it's not like I can simply copy-paste the ability...had to learn within first 30 minutes of modding that this doesnt work that way =)

Since the Coronates Ultimate ability Reposession is little more than a gloryfied colonize, you probably should take a look at the respective entity files.

Yes you'd just need to make appropriate TitanUpgradeLevel stuff if you want it to be levelable. If you make it a fixedlevel0 you can slap it in like any other capital ship ability.

All you'd really have to do is restructure a titan ability with the colonizing attributes in it.  It's easy.

Thanks alot! =D It actualy was alot easier than I feared...It's just that I got used to the fact that if you touch any single dot in the files in not an appropriate way, the game will go on rampage with a chainnsaw! >_<

But it turned out well. I just modded the titan file to use frigate colonise ability ( since I dont need it to be leveled, I just want it to present from the start.) and it worked like a charm.

Now all I need to do is find out why the game freaks out when I try to mod the "Bhastic Burst" ability to additionaly do damage over time and apply armor debuff and the titan will be ready to rock =D

Although...finding out why it crashes when I try to mod the "purification" ability to apply a repair 20 hull per second for 10 seconds each 10 seconds to all friendly units in 1800 range would be nice...

Yet anyway, thank you very much for your replies, they realy helped alot! =D

You realize "Chastic Burst" is probably the most powerful ability in the game right? :P

Oh I sure do realize that! :P But I just want to see if I can actualy do that kind of stuff. I like to keep the game challenging and interesting, so I'm definetely not going to make it one-shot entire fleets with it  !

Besides, if that kind of modification is possible, I am definetely going to modify other titans to keep up with the boost ^_^

Anyway, I'm kind of new to all this, so I'm just researching what are the border of what can be done.

If you're going to buff Titans, buff the Ankylon a lot.  It needs the boost.

As others have stated, any ship can "technically" colonize, as long as it has a colonize ability.  Just take the capital colonize ability and throw it in the entity file.  Chances are you will need to trade one ability for it though, just make sure you are not trading one of the good abilities for it!

Better just to use a cheap colony capital than to waste potential firepower on your titan for measily colonization efforts!

Oh, I comepletely remade most of the Eradica's abilities and made it so that the colonize ability doesnt require skill points =), so it works perfectly...almost, as I still cant figure out how to add an AOE heal to the last level of the ability...

And regarding Ankylon...I realy cant think of anything to buff it, aside from simple straightforward ability buffing, lets say make it's furious defence buff it to 80-100% of damage and heal 70-80 hp per second and buff it's armor...and make it's EMP aoe hit harder =)...

Coronata would need a buff too, I guess...

What makes me want to buff titans is Ragnarov! This beast is the eexample of what the titan should realy be! I modified my Eradica to have approximately 25% more hp, have it's unyielding will stack healing buff and it's purification to apply heavy heal during it's duration, almost as much as Ankylon's heal does...and still, one on one unmodified Ragnarov nukes my titan into radioactive dust! I read on forums - "Ragnarov is a huge gun with no hp, it's only hope is to quickly nuke the enemy so that they dont nuke him...aaaha...I nuked this beas with 50 ships, including my titan. 4 capitals, all level 6+, level 10 titan, like 30 destra cruisers, iconus guards and subjugators...all focusing their fire on Ragnarov...I killed it only because one of my capships was constantly casting vengence on ships Raggy was nuking...Lost 3/4 of my fleet in the process, including all the capships...and it was alone! I am terrified what would be if he brought it's fleet along!

Anyway, after that I decided the titan I use the most needs a serious boost. Realy. XD

Actually the Ragnarov is the second most durable Titan once hull and armor upgrades are fully researched. Thats another reason why the Ankylon does have so much trouble.

The entire firepower of a Level 10 Ankylon with full support of Furios Defense....

is just a bit higher than the PASSIVE regeneration of the Ragnarov.

And as such the Ankylon dies in any not owned gravity well.

It can defeat the Ragnarov but you need to be in your own gravity well. And even there the battle takes arround 20 minutes real time.... Ragnarov doesnt more than scratching the hull which Ankylonr repairs immediatly.... Ankylon kills Ragnarov by 1000 cuts.
