How to I uninstall Object Bar and WB, etc, so I can reload them without problems?

Hi everyone,

I just found this site a week ago, and just thought what a blessing it was. I have hated the computer desktop setup for years, and have always thought that it should be atleast somewhat customizable for my needs. Wow, didn't know that you have been able to do that for years now..lol...little slow these days..lol.

Anyway, I have had a bad feeling about the way I installed everything from the beginning, At first I didn't realize everything I needed, and tried to download a premade theme, but then when I tried to install it, it kept telling me that I needed more programs installed. Some of those programs came from the theme file, and some where just directly off of the websites.

Well, when I got it all loaded. something like six different programs..icons, coursors, WB, object bar, etc, then it didn't seem to work well. So I decided to uninstall. Well, there are still tons of files in the Windows/Objectbar... files. Can I safely delete that file, since I have already ran the uninstall for each program? I had read somewhere that there is one file that MUST be removed before you reinstall WB, or maybe it was object Bar...I can't find it again. I also read something about unlocking something in the configuration file before you unistalled the program...opps, I didn't do that. Can I just go in and delete the file now?

Also, any tips for the best way to handle downloading everything again? I see that some of the designers have included all of the programs in their files...would it just be easier to use those, instead of hunting everything down individually....any suggestions on which files would have all of the programs in, like maybe the suite files? At this point, I would rather not purchase the software, until I can figure out if I am even smart enough just to install it, let alone actually create with it.....

Thanks for any help in advance. Also, I have Windows XP, 2.2 ghz, 120 GB hard drive....it's only about a month old, and is my baby. I have put up with my dad's hand me down computer for the past four years...Intel 1, and a whopping 4 GB hard drive...lol....after using this new computer, I wonder how I didn't lose my mind. Actually, I think that old thing lost it's mind...because I can't keep it from locking up and having to reboot every 20 minutes. May it RIP. So, anyway, now I have this awesome computer, and I would love to customize it, to what I would like a computer to be.

OK, I am done....thanks!

If I were you, I'd start with one program at a time, instead of installing a whole suite mad for 6 different programs at once.
I suggest starting with Windowblinds for a little while, then maybe you can advance to Objectbar or another.

And no, there are no themes that include the programs. What you download here are just the skins/themes (the visual). You have to get the program seperately.
I suspect you've been downloading Winstyle suites. Indeed, I believe Winstyle can help you download the programs you need for a suite, but it doesn't skin anything, it just groups a few skins together into a suite, but you still need to get the actual program the skins are made for.
I suggest you leave Winstyle alone for now, you can get back to it when you understand a bit more abot the different programs.

As I said, Windowblinds is a good starting point: http://www.windowblinds.net

Thanks for the information. I definately agree about starting with only one thing until I master that....I just didn't realize that at the time. Actually I was pretty disappointed that I messed everything up. Do you think it's ok, that I go ahead and delete all of the skins that I downloaded at that time? I have already used the unistall, for everything. But it left all of the skins and a bunch of other "common" files. There was also a warning about not reinstalling one of the programs with out removing one of the files...just wanted to know if you thought that would be ok.

I am usually pretty computer literate, but I have been on alot of meds lately for my bad back, and they had just changed them during that time, and I had a really "dumb" week. My back felt better, but not my brain. (I actually have just gone on disability for my back, so some of those meds are really strong, and do tend to confuse me until I get adjusted to them...so please don't think I am an "idiot"..ok?? This week, my head is much clearer now, so now I am trying to fix what I messed up.

Thanks again for your help.
