SkinBrowser GPF's

I can consistently make the SkinBrowser GPF by browsing the DesktopX themes, selecting the Windows 3.1 theme (not that I want it--I just want to read the comments), and clicking the "Comments" button. Works every time.

Compaq Presario 5000
512 MB RAM
Windows XP Home
SkinBrowser v. 0.97

Any thoughts?

Skinbrowser will ocassionally become unresponsive while I'm veiwing messages. No GPF, just grinds to a halt.

As a matter of fact, it did it when I posted the message above.

Sounds like I'm not the only one...

If I try the same thing under Windows 2000 Professional (Dell Latitude laptop, 256 MB, Service Pack 2 installed), I get:

The instruction at "0x00411534" referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be "read."

Looks to me like someone's trying to use an uninitialized pointer.

Just to clarify--I'm hitting the "comments" button on the right side of the frame next to the screenshot, not the "comments" button on the top row.

I had the problem about a week ago, and when I looked at the details of the GPF, I noticed that it was pointing at Temp directory that WB uses. I deleted all of the files in the Temp directory and haven't had a problem since.

This is where they are hiding on my system....

C:\Documents and Settings\default\Local Settings\Temp\~wincustomize

may or may not be hiding in the same place on your system....

Good Luck

I gave it a try. No joy.

This is definitely a bug. Does Stardock read these forums or is there someplace else I should submit a report?

I have been e-mailing Brian some of the crash logs when all of this has been happening to me. He is fixing all this stuff. Will be available soonish.
