Please Help me: Logika Windowblinds Skin crashes IE6!!!

I’m a proud owner of the BEAUTIFUL Logika suite, but the windowblinds skin seems to keep on crashing my browser. I never thought that a skin could do so, but there is no doubt: this perticular skin is the culprit. I actually reformatted my computer and reinstalled WinXP Pro just to make sure, and whenever I use the Logika Windowblinds skin, my browser will randomly freeze when popup ads are displayed. It happens about 65% of the time: the ad window will appear as blank, and not skinned, then IE will tell me there was an error, and close… whenever I use another skin, this behavior NEVER happens (I'm currently using Light blue... almost as nice as Logika).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, given that it only happens when pop-ups are displayed, I'd grab a good pop-up killer. If you don't mind spending a few bucks, Pop-up Stopper Companion by Panicware works beautifully, and integrates into the IE toolbar. There are a million free alternatives though, and that way, you can enjoy Logika, *and* be free of those evil-doers.

Unfortunately, some of these popups are not necessarily adds... they might be forms, like information/credit card form etc...

Are you running WebBlinds as well? If so, try disabling it temporarily to see if it's an additional cause of the problem . . .

Nope: just Windowblinds... I tried it with a clean install of WinXP Pro and only Windowblinds: it still crahed with the Logika skin.

MogWaEE a skin can not make crash a software, it just means Windowblinds has some compatibilities issues with some features that is supposed to support. So that means Windowblinds is making crash your computer, not the skin, the skin is not an exec file it's just a skin that use Windowblinds features. So it can never do more that the software can allowed. There is probably a conflict with your hardware or software that is causing problems with some latest funtionnalities. You really should contact Stardock about that.

I hear ya... that's actually really what I meant. I'm just wondering what special feature of the Logika skin makes Windowblinds unhappy. What is that "special something" that that skin has which makes winblinds crash? I really can't figure it out . I was hoping that others had experienced the same problem and would enlighten me.

I think that I'll listen you your advice and I'll try to contact Stardock asap.

Alexandrie: Actually, there is quite a lot a skin can do to ruin your day in the way of plugin DLL's, but I suspect the problem may lie in the use of SmartButtons in the skin. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of any solution, other than to ensure you have the latest versions of both the skin and WindowBlinds. Contacting Stardock with details is definitely the best bet.

I do believe some skins to do some strange things some times. I remember using Photoshop and some skins actually caused the cursor to not work when I wanted to transform a image. It was shifting something over or something. I personally did not care to much about that problem but after downloading the latest version I no longer have this problem with thos piticular skins.

I would also look into the prefrences of explorer and download any patches. I believe allot of those pop ups or pop unders are javascript
