Its Summer, and Vacation time

Its that time of year when we start thinking about other places to go in a search of relief from our real lives. Whether we go or not, that's what I'm thinking about now.

We have plans on going to Atlantic City, N.J. mid summer for one whole week, where I plan on laying on the beach, people whatching, and having drinks with little unbrellas in them. AHhhhhh

And your plans or dreams.

no vacation for me this year... but if there was it would take place along the McCloud River on the southern side of Mt Shasta right below the tunnel to the underworld where the Lemurians live and just above the secret CIA installation that borders Patty Hearst's property across the river...

gonna miss Merl...

A couple of my favorite places that I often return to:

1. Atlantic City (I'm with you on this one Jim)
2. Boston (greatest little city I've ever been to.)
3. Cape Cod, Nantucket, Cape Ann (mmmm especially Cape Ann)
4. Vancouver Island especially around Qualicum Beach area.
5. The Thousand Islands (In the Alexadria Bay area)

And a couple of places I've only been to once, but were trully spectacular:

1. London England. (Also Dover, Bath, Oxford)
2. Isreal in the area of Elat...beautiful mediteranean beaches there.

Yes, if you can get to any of these places at least once in a lifetime it is time well worth it!

Awww Jim don't let me fade your image of Da' Shore. I think the local lingo is sooo much more descriptive. Stop in Philly and I'll buy you a cheesesteak!

... and if you say Pat's or Tony's for cheesesteaks, I'm gonna . Only Jim's on South Street for the best Philly cheesesteaks.

Summer time? Vacation time? Not in The Texas Gulf Coast Region! We get to rotate out the Aquafier pumps, furrow and fill the Katy rice fields. Only a 17 hour day every day except Sunday!

Our plans for this year:

We're in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) and we're going to drive through Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and then take the ferry across to Newfoundland.

My husband is from Newfoundland, so we'll be visiting his friends and family there.

Also, I work for Parks Canada, so we are going to camp a few days in Gros Morne National Park on the way to St. John's, and pass through Terra Nova National Park as well.

Then we'll have a week in St. John's, during the George Street Festival (lots of music and drinking! And we'll be in St. John's for the Regatta as well.

Then we'll drive home, taking the ferry back to the mainland again. All in all, we're planning on two weeks.

Should be fun.

Shades State Park, Indiana.
It is on the line where the glaciers stopped and dropped everything they had been carrying. It created a pine grove where there shouldn't be and several odd geological features. Most of the forest is virgin hardwood.

There is one ravine that I like to think of as Nature's cathedral. Trees soar overhead to create a roof and walls. Leafy green, wet bark brown, and beech tree grey as far as the eye can see, more beautiful then any stain glass. The floor is littered with giant, moss covered logs from trees that have been providing the pews for ages. A creek chants as it passes down the main aisle. Large boulders are scattered like a giant child's toys. Black Eyed Susans pop up wherever the Sun manages to poke though. A testament to Nature's fury and gentleness.

If Ents are still roaming the earth they are here.
