Odd Shadow (Workaround Found)

Irritating

Guys, I may have a thread on this already, but I can't find it.

Anyone other than me seeing this odd shadow on RC menus?  Does it with several skins, but not all skins.

It looks like the Aero default shadow showing through.  In Skin Studio, you can make menus flat (thereby getting those nice blunted corners), but you have to click the "Hide Menu Shadow" in the extra settings tab.

I was told that before when I had this trouble with another skin, but it wasn't it. Not it here either. Hide Menu Shadow is enabled.

Thanks Karen.   k2

I'm thinking it's a problem on my rig....just wish I could find it.

It's not the skin.

WinFX is quite the focker, eh?

Have had my issues with it as well. Went away as soon as WinFX was banished.

General system slowdown, and I'm not the only one having experienced that.

In my So, you like Windows 7... thread I mention that Windows 7 has/had become a drag to work with, generally slowing down the longer it's active.
I removed a shitload of software incl. WinFX, and now Windows 7 is a whole new joy to work with.

Blame some of the other software, you say?
WinFX was the only 'active all the time' piece of software I removed.

What causes it I obviously dont know, but it's a real shame because WinFX is a great application.

Any way we could troubleshoot this thang? I don't have the odd shadows on my laptop, which runs Win7 64 bit, just like my main rig.

Neil?

Hmmm...had this fixed, reinstalled my rig, can't remember the fix now....bummer.

I found a workaround but it is a bummer.... I disabled the open animations on menus and the shadow goes bye bye.

Ok, if I turn off shadows on windows in Performance Options.

The fix was to install WindowFX 5.1 beta.

That's the part he forgot. ;) I believe that he is using 5.1 with this re-install.

Changing the shadow setting in Visual Effects has fixed it this time around.
