Object Actions

Hey all,

Is there a way to set an object action (such as a simple button) to create a new object on the screen at position x, y?

Thx,
Forrest

When DX is running, right click the desktop, go to Desktop X at the bottom, then choose "new object", when the dialogue box opens, go to "Summary" at the bottom left, you can then insert exact desktop coordinates at the top.
I hope this helps, if you need more info, let me know in this thread.

Perhaps putting the x, y info in there was a little confusing. Perhaps somebody knows how to get a button to just plain create a new desktop object? Does that make any sense? Thanks for any help.

AAh, I see what you mean now! As far as I know, that capability doesn't exist yet in Desktop X, and to be honest, I'm not sure that it really requires it. Could you explain further as to why you need a button to add a new object at particular coordinates, when you can actually achieve this using the current method? Or am I still not getting the point?

I was trying to get a container to open that contained a link to a web page that require a login and password. I origanally acheived this using just the option of opening up the broswer, but when i did this the url i was going to was displayed and and therefore my password was displayed. However, if that has confused ignore it. I was messing around with some settings earlier today and figured out how to do what I wanted. I set an object as a popup object with toggle functionality and made it initially invisible, and then made a button which chged it's state to visible. If you're tottaly lost now it is probably because I tend to post these at outrageos hours of the night when i should be asleep. But needless to say thankyou for your willingness to help, but I figured it out after just messing around (isnt that what we are all capable of at times, jsut screw around till you get it right). Have a great day.
