speading up the message board even more

speading up the message board even more

now that wincustomize2 has the ability to jump to the last post in a thread that you have read, i am wondering if the message board can be made even faster.

since each post in a thread has some form of ID number (it turns up at the end of the URL), if there are more than say 50 posts in a thread, and you have already read this thread, can only the last 50 threads be loaded initially?

when this happens have a link to get the full thread.

and for threads you havent read before just load all of it.

this idea is perhaps best aimed at the new skinbrowser.

is it feasable? it should both spead things up and cut down on bandwidth usage, so it sounds good on paper.

Oops craeonics. I think I'm getting the threads mixed up. Can't seem to keep up with more than one. Maybe I need to follow Feline's example and get more cat naps.

i am here, but only briefly. i am currently trying to get over some nasty bug that has been trying to kill me for the last week.

then i tried loading elf's marathon thread on my home connection. it has taken me 30 minutes to get skinbrowser to talk to me, and i still havent seen what happened in there >

Peff - Feline...you're definitely my kind of person...source code browsing is the only way to know what is actually happenning...I'm perusing the full source of wincustomize right now...truly enlightening...

just remember, if ctags will tag it, then it is already documented. of course, if you dont use vim to create and navigate a tag stack, then it is your own fault for not reading the documentation properly *giggle*

/me slowly falls of chair

perhaps i am still a tiny bit halucanagenic. proper documentation of course requires a lovely diagram in excel, using 6 line colours, 8 cell colours, at least one popup note for every cell, and it should reach at least line 1000, and cell AD

after all, people need a backup plan for when i am recompiling vim

Sorry to hear about your bug, Feline. Hope your all better (go ahead and take all the catnaps you need).
