speading up the message board even more

now that wincustomize2 has the ability to jump to the last post in a thread that you have read, i am wondering if the message board can be made even faster.

since each post in a thread has some form of ID number (it turns up at the end of the URL), if there are more than say 50 posts in a thread, and you have already read this thread, can only the last 50 threads be loaded initially?

when this happens have a link to get the full thread.

and for threads you havent read before just load all of it.

this idea is perhaps best aimed at the new skinbrowser.

is it feasable? it should both spead things up and cut down on bandwidth usage, so it sounds good on paper.

That's an interesting idea.

Feline to the rescue (told you I saw your cape in the closet). Just had to get in on this thread too. That ought to keep things buzzing.

Gee Whiz Adni, just when I was really starting to like you.

starone, i am not sure that this is the right place to discuss my dress sence.

an interesting, but brief, discussion on this front did happen in the chatroom marathon thread though. search for "bra" if you want to find it

I think we will skip bra and stick with cloak. I've already seen the other one.

What a frightening thought, you in a bra with all that cat hair and chocolate - what a mixture. Actually, I was trying to get you off the hook by staying with the cloak.

/me *hurumph*
i dont make a habit of getting chocolate all over my self, it is a waste of good food

well, while we are drifting totaly off topic, i am developing a plan for my first skin. i have an idea, but i now need to master enough of gimp to create the graphics.

would you be willing to cast an eye over the graphics, presuming i can actually get anywhere?

Gimp I know nothing about, but have an idea of what graphics are. Sure, I would love to help anyway I can, just let me know. (But, warning - you know how different my ideas, (err styles) are. I have a feeling that you might be a little different too. And hey, what are topics if not to get off of them?

Hi Koasati. What do you think of Feline - I offer to help and don't hear from him again. Maybe he has had second thoughts?

/me throws chocolate mice at starone

i suspect i am in a completely different time zone to a certain little trouble making minx. not long after my last post i was off to get some sleep.

i have produced an outline of the shape i want (aiming at a coolplayer skin as my first attempt), but i them spent 3 hours trying to fix the system screen savers. it seems the cad program feels a need to reassociate the scr file extension, which caused me several problems

however, after eventually fixing that, i have found that i dont even know how to crop a bmp in gimp, let alone set about putting some colour and depth onto my outline.

as for your different perspective on graphics, that is part of the reason i picked you, that and i thought you would probably say yes . in art class they used to complain that all of my drawings were to geometric. so my views on tasefull and well balanced are likely to be a little excentric

DOH!

i wish this skin browser would tell me when it was doing something, so that i stopped double posting by accident.

Sleep, what is that? Sounds like we are a good mix. I know you've told me what Gimp is, but I still have no idea about it or its workings. Is it anything like MS Paint? What graphic program can you equate it to? By the way, I dodged the chocolate mice.

sleep? i like getting my beauty sleep. it is what keeps me looking so cute and adorable

someone at work compared Gimp to photoshop, and then went on about the fact that it has its own programming language and over 20 different menu bars.

i think they were a bit delusional though myself. it says it has a scripting language, but the web site says it isnt a photoshop killer for serious users.

it doesnt look much like paint, but that is about all i know for sure at the moment

it is free (so i can afford it), and the source code is available if i ever want to read it. lunitic as it sounds, i have been known to go reading the source code of the editor i use at work when i wanted to know details about how it works.

Feline...you're definitely my kind of person...source code browsing is the only way to know what is actually happenning...I'm perusing the full source of wincustomize right now...truly enlightening...

BTW T-Man...line 2356 of file '??????.asp' has a syntax error in it. Hope this helps

Hum, source code, huh? Sounds ominous to me. By the way, Feline, where are you? You aren't sleeping again are you. Don't you know more than 3 hours is tabu.

Three hours!!!! slakers! 1 hour per night should be enough for anybody!!!

By the way, I checked Gimp out on the internet to learn more about it. I think I will stick to Painshop Pro.

I stand corrected Peff. Maybe Feline will get the idea. After all, it's really only suppose to be catnaps anyway. (Hint, hint Feline.) Boy he must really be dozing. Hasn't been on in quite a while.
For some reason feline's messages go in one ear and out the other without me really noticing them. Anyway, the idea is good!

Thanks craeonics. Got some new perspective ideas last night as I slept on it. Still mulling them around in my mind. Feline - well - seems to have disappeared for a while. By the way, when he finally wakes up from his nap, I'm sure he will be looking really "purty".
