This outlines some of the goodies involves in becoming a subscriber. So far, only the skinbrowser has been implemented but over the course of the year we'll be adding more and more features.
We've also decided that the renewal cost will be lower than the initial fee so that it's not going to be $19.95 per year but more like X for the first year and then some fraction of X for the subsequent years as a way of thanking long term supporters.
We hope to have the text ads done by this summer. That'll be a lot of fun since subscribers will be able to set what they want theirs to say and promote something they want (it'll require admin approval - no porn sites! ).
If anyone has any ideas on any cool subscriber-only features, let us know.
Our strategy is to make it so that we're not taking anything away from non-subscribers but rather giving something special to subscribers. (to a point: at some point in the future we'll probably have to do something about the users who download hundreds of megabytes of stuff who haven't registered any software -- i.e. there are thousands of users now who have download > 100 megs of DesktopX themes over months who don't have ODNT or a registered DesktopX, we don't want to block them entirely but we want to find a way to put those users into some sort of bandwidth saving queue or osmething).
