Help! OB crashes my computer.

I am running W2K, IE 5.5 w/all of the updates from the Micro$oft's website. On startup, I get an error message, usually a RunDLL32 error, but it varies. After uninstalling OB, everything is fine. Anybody out there with a suggestion?

Are you running version 1.1?

Yes I am. It seem to function properly if I launch OB after starting the computer. The problem only occurs when OB is part of the start-up.

It could be anti-virus software or something else loading at startup. A firewall maybe? OB 1.1 runs great here so I'm not sure what it could be. Have you tried posting a question at the newsgroup? There's some real helpful (and smarter than me) people there. Here's a link for it: news://news.stardock.com/stardock.od.windows.objectbar

OOOOOOO I'm gonna swipe a copy of that link for my self! Thanks! I was just going to add that sometimes one object bar will do that for me, and another one won't. Maybe just switch until you know the problem. I have made tons of goofs, it forgives me (I think)! HEH.... There is even one with a shortcut with a design I don't know. When I poke it, I have to reboot. Then when I reboot and poke it again .... same thing! Third time (that design has to mean something and I am stubborn!)... OK, I'm not going anywhere. But you know that little button with a window design between the control and alt button on the right side of the keyboard"?" ... I poked that and "E" at the same time. It opened my c-drive, and from there I could get a desktop back! I am not sure if I need to know what that design means. So many Object bars, I will come back to that design when I know more.

OH Wow. David K! I poked your name and found out that you are the guy who created the skin Humidor! That skin, more than any other, kept me looking in here and wishing I could afford windowblinds. I still really, really love that skin. Dono if it is just me...it doesn't always work just so... didn't the taskbar just used to be skinned? Just to thank you for the nice dreams. Ok, sorry to disrupt this thead. Carry on.

haha - thanks... that skin is like three years old now. It doesn't even have the scrollbars skinned. Maybe I'll do an update for it since I've ignored it for so long. I still use it everyday, I have it set as a per-app skin for Hardwood Solitaire.

You know, there are a few skins here that bring me close to real things. Seems I downloaded it recently and I didn't even notice that the scrollbars weren't working. Probably just in my imagination, but there was one spot that reminded me of -- you know when you work at a homade desk or something a lot and you rest your forearm on it and it wears off the varnish a little, but it just means you really love and use that desk a lot? And I really liked the buttons and that thin line of green marble and that brass lable. When I first afforded windowblinds, I looked that skin up right away! I don't have it on my machine right now, but I sure would like to see it updated. HEH... that skin has everything but the smell and feel...... but the feelings are there!

Douglas, What is in your startup folder? Have you tried putting ObjectBar as the last to load? It is probably the sequence of programs loading that is messing it up.

JavaBrain,
Good question. Examining my registy under the following:

HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micro$oft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

there are a whole slew of applications, however, they are all in alphabetical order. I doubt very seriously (but not beyond convincing) that these programs execute in this order. So, this begs another couple of questions:

1. Where does one find the actual loading order of these files?
2. What is an acceptable ordering of these files?

Thanks for the feedback.
