hmmmmmmm interesting... selling a whole siute? That was the first thing I thought of when I got this stuff. For those who are graphic designers/web designers digital artists and so on, this is just another way to express yourself. And since we all tend to be poor, sometimes we can sell our hard work (200 - 400 hours of work) for 8, 10, or even 15 dollars!!! I love giving some of this stuff away (most actually) but there is a market out there..... and it is growing.... so be prepared to see some siutes to be sold. I'm sure after like 6 - 8 months most of it will be released to the public. It is the open source way. GUI League of Designers baby!!!!

whoo hoo

we will probably have another way in few months, we will probably charge per skin.

Any suggestions around how much you would be willing to pay for?

For a Hoverdesk theme by pixtudio, i would pay 20§ and more, because they are the best. Very detailed and functional.

Alex....$8 per skin, or $80 for the lot sounds good...

I'm with Jafo on this one. $8 for a whole suite is a real bargin, even if you only use 1 or 2 of the skins regularly.

I only use WB and Beat*K, and I am VERY willing to pay $10-$15 PER SKIN........ I LOVE what you two put out and am willing to pay for quality work.

more than $5 per skin will only make warez sites for skins appear and in the end you will make less money the higher the prices are.

moshi...
You are very probably right, considering the number of ripped [stolen] skins around at present...

I agree with the point joe is making. Graphics designers, or skinners as we like to call them are primarily artists, sure, their work is not something you will hang on your wall and show off to anyone who is willing to look at it, but they are artists puting time and effort into what they do as well. Having to talent of my own I am more than willing to support those who do. I have used treetog and Alexandrie's work ever since I can remember and throwing $8 their way every now and then is the least I can do as a token of appreciation for all their efforts.

jafo: yes, it is definetly a shame, and it would not be the worst thing that could happen to skinning scene, if some of those rippers were taught the hard way. just look at this thread at Neowin (rippers paradise): http://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.php?s=4f66a2ed30964d4832994545a9f67243&threadid=28998&perpage=15&pagenumber=2

That's a sad thread, moshi...
Bunch of misguided fools....if they try porting Pixtudio's works they'll have to deal with me first...[if you see anything posted, let me know]...

Good thing about my WB stuff is that I put the buttons on the left side, so they'll be hard-pressed to 'port' them...[if they ever wanted to, that is]...

currently those people are more into ripping MacOSX themes, but since there are not that many, it seems to be only a matter of time. > will get in contact with you then.

on your skins: well crippling a skin is not a big problem for them

After grazing over that thread at Neowin, I find it odd that those guys get bent out of shape about selling a skin for a freeware app, but they don't seem to mind TGTSoft charging them for a crack of the MSStyles engine.

/me suspects they're probably all using a cracked version of the crack anyway

i think that if skins are going to be sold as a siute then it should be between 8-15 dollars. It is affordable and because of that it will mostlikly not get hacked. As for buying a siute but not having all the programs that get skinned.... well if I only had windowblins, nextstart and winamp I probably would not buy it. I would just wait a few months for the design frim to release the siute to the public.

whoops I preesed enter instead of thift

In conclusion I also believe that if a "design firm" sells there work and then releases it to the public after a few months (like 6) then that will also reduce the crime factor or the "I am inspired so much by your work that I ripped it totally and then just changed the name" factor.

Now that I think about it, I started using some programs solely because of the great skins included in the Logika suite. It actually helped me discover skinnable programs that I hadn't considered using before.
