Something wrong here....

I am currently running the Longhorn Objectbra (had to put that typo in), and the windowsblinds longhorn skin. Everything is hunky dory....until..

I downloaded that turbo deluxe desktopx theme (very nice it is too) and had that running too. After about 5 mins I noticed that desktopx was taking up 58% on one of my cpu's (dual P3 1ghz rig w 1.25GB PC133 sdram). Hmm I thought. So, I rebooted my machine and started it all again. Same thing So, I unloaded the desktopx theme, and my cpu levels are normal again.

So.. My questions.

Is it because I have all 3 apps running?
Has anybody else noticed this quirk with the latest desktopx?

Tonight, I will try with JUST desktopx running to see if I get same result.

Any help will be appreciated..Thanks

Yakkob

I did wonder about this when the powers-that-be made Turbo Deluxe a featured skin - not because it's bad, but because it's well over a year old and DesktopX has changed out of all recognition in that time. The same problem afflicts my Graphite desktopx theme and undoubtedly pretty much any pre-1.0 desktopx theme. It's the plugins - undoubtedly the CPU and memory ones. They have a very bad memory leak which sucks CPU cycles like they're going out of fashion. I'd strongly advise against anyone using old themes like Turbo Deluxe or Heavy Machinery or my own Graphite with any builds of DesktopX beyond 0.75a.

I am planning to redo all of Nuvems themes at some point with new plugins (with his permission of course) as he is too busy to update them himself.

I will be starting with Turbo Deluxe tonight (hopefully).

His themes are too fantastic to stay in the current state.
