RUNDLL.32.EXE Application Error

After switching back and forth between themes newly downloaded, whenever I click on the Appearance Tab I get the following message:

"An exception occurred while trying to run: Shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL "D:\Windows\System32\desk.cpl" Display"

Then I get the instruction at 0x76b216d1 referenced memory at 0x000004a8 The memory could not be read.

Help - Im a real newbie at this and restarting has not cleared the problem, any ideas how to sort this ??

Many thanks

It sounds like you got a corrupt skin file loaded. Try restarting with the control key pressed in to prevent Windowblinds from loading, then see if you can delete the bad file (probably the last skin you applied).

... just guessing btw - good luck

I get the same message a lot, especially when switching to classic from a WB skin. Doesn't seem to cause any problems other than Display Properties closing right away.

I don't know if you had the same problem I had, but perhaps you should reinstall WindowBlinds. That worked for me. If it doesn't work though, then uninstall it and see if the Appearance tab works then. Perhaps it's something other than WindowBlinds.

I created a new user,(WinXP) then went through the skins one by one till I found the one that caused the problem. Un-installed WB then re-installed, works a treat now (less the problem skin)

Thanks guys
