Logons

I downloaded a few logons, used another program to load them, now, I used LogonStudio to make one. With both programs, I loaded a customized login screen. When I move my mouse close to the login box, the cursor kinda skips. It doesn't do this with the regular windows logon. Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it from happening?

I had a similar problem when I used custom logons... how fast is your computer and how much RAM do you have? I have a 500 mhz with 128 megs and I'm pretty sure that the cutom logons (the ones i used had 1024x768 bitmap images) as opposed to just a nifty little gradient (which is the default). I'm not 100% sure, but the huge bitmaps could be a strain on the resources, especially since windows has not so good management of the RAM and their paging file. But like i said, I'm not 100% positive this is the case, but I'm having a hard time imagining what else it could be. I don't think there is erally any good way to solv this.... perhaps increase the size of your paging file? I think that might work well, I'll try it out on mine when i get home.... good luck Nacron

btw..... just in case you don't know what a paging file is, here's how you can change it:

go into control panel then go to system, then go to advanced, then (this is where its different on the different versions of windows) since I'm on win2k here at work, there is a button under the advanced tab that says performance, click that and you should see something about either virtual memory or paging file, just make it bigger. This file acts as an overflow buffer when your RAM gets too full. Like i said, I'm not 100% positive this will fix the problem, but hey, its worth a shot.

btw, if you have a smaller hd, like under 5 gigs i would really suggest purchasing a bigger one, i would say to run winxp and a decent amount of programs you really need a fairly large hd.

I know what a page file is...I have a PIII 850 with 512 mb ram. I'm currently running at 1600X1200. My page file was automatically set by windows at 768 mb. There is nothign running that I can see in the background...HD isn't crunching. When i was editing with logonstudio, it worked just fine, the alpah channels changed without skipping.

Hey by the way... I just want to know how to load logons in XP... because whenever I double-click the logon in the logonstudio, and press apply, the program times-out and crashes... Any ideas??
