WindowBlinds skins on win2000...

Hi.
I'm asking for help on my first post:) What a newbie!

I just installed windowsBlinds and God I'm amazed! I really didnt knew we could actually do that much with windows!

So I just installed the amazing olympian skin made by adni18 but I'm having little problems.

First of all, the internet explorer. The top right " action buttons" like the X for closing, the _ for minimizing and so on are not clicable. To close any window, I have to alt + F4 it.
Is it because I'm using windows 2000? Or am I missing something? It's doing this with ALL skins...not only this one.

Now, the icons. For example, the olympian skin have very neat icons. I would like to use them. I downloaded the zip file and the only way I see how to implement my icons with my theme is to use Desktop Architect and do it manually...Any other ways of doing it? With WindowBlinds?

Finally, some additional info. Are they special windows 2000 skins and themes with windowblinds?
Cuz I was about to install windows xp but a lot of people told me it wasnt really good. They say its not compatible with a lot of things. Is it true?

Re Finally, CONGRATS for everything. I'm online for now more then 13 hours straight on wincustomize.com because there's so many things to play with!
You rock!

I think I can help you with most of your questions.

Do you have a program called Common Names installed? If so, this is probably what is causing your problems with the titlebar buttons. Try uninstalling that and see if it works then. If that doesn't do it, there may be some other programs causing it, but I'm not familiar with all of them. Check the Stardock newsgroups for more info in that if necessary.

Windowblinds does not change icons, but stardock does make a program called Iconpackager that will allow you to download complete "packs" of icons and change them all at one time. Go to the iconpackager section and there will be a link to download it. There are also other icon management programs that are available for free such as iconphile http://www.virtualplastic.net/scrow/

As for Windows XP...somebody is pulling your leg or uninformed. There are few compatibility issues and it will give you much better flexibility if you're truly looking to immerse yourself into the world of skins.

Check into buying Object Desktop from Stardock.

Well I am having a prob with this skin as well. Sorry I am more new to this than eXeon is..lol.. anyway, all I got was the .wba file. It didn't change my start menu or anything. It only changed my border of windows, start button, and quick bar, and tool bar. When I click on the start bar it is the same. It doesn't look like the picture in that regard.

I tried to get object bar, but dont have the money to buy the retail version. Am I hosed then until I buy that? Or am I simply doing something wrong here? I havew spent all day long on this dang thing and am at my wits end.

Thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

You have to have either XP or objectbar to get what you want missinglink.

in other words, you have to download object bar from www.stardock.com to be able to change your start button.

But even then, you won't be able to use it fully. You'll only have access to some new start bars(3 I beleive). After registering, you'll get unlimited start bars.

If you're using Object Bar you can load any skin that's made for it. So, you have access to the 3 that come with it and the 79 that are on this site plus you can make your own.

The XP style taskbar and start menu is only one style of Object Bar. But without XP it's the only way to do that. It will also emulate a Mac with the finder bar or you can invent your own style.
