Drawing...Just so simple!!!!

To get all the shots necessary to make that animation must've taken a very long time... It does make a good tutorial for using pastels.

If you take a look at the page this came from, you'll see that it's actually done using a pretty call drawing applett which records brush strokes as an animation. So the actual animation side of it is all automated. There's no denying the incredible artistic ability of the artist though.

That's simply brilliant.....reminds me of my Conte drawing...although I never did it quite that way....no 'real' guide-line sketching....

I showed this to my sister, an Honours graduate in Fine Art, and Art Teacher....and her comment was that it would have to have been traced, as it's 'impossible' to evolve a drawing in that way....in proportion, scale, form, etc...without setting some guidelines.
The composition is too uniquely distinctive as an awkward pose to be anything but 'traced'.

I tend to agree....the colour fill and shading is exactly as I'd apply conte in my drawings, but the preparation linework is missing...

Doesn't mean it ain't a great animation...if only I can work out how to save it to HD so I can run it at will...

I don't see how it could have been traced, as it starts off very rough before the artist smoothes off the edges to form the correct shapes. If it were traced, there wouldn't be any need for this.

A more likely explanation is that they just had the guidelines pre-drawn on their tablet before starting.

That's what I meant...it's 'copied' using an outline that's not shown. It definitely is not drawn from memory....
