It's actually a lot better since they put the ratings and the comments in the same box...

Sed, Treetog has over 1 million downloads and probably doesn't have many more comments than you! It's just the way it is. Adni18 gets over 10,000 downloads per DAY!, and he doesn't have many comments. We would all like to get more comments on our work, and people should at least say thank you if they download something. We just have to try and educate people.
As for the rating system, it's only an extra click, it doesn't hurt THAT much.

Sed,
Listen to BoXXi

My WindowBlind skin "XP Home" has about 40.000 downloads and not even one comment!

I'm sorry I'm not writing 40,000 words of praise/criticisim for your work there, Sed.....

but I'm a college student.....

I don't have that much time on my hands....

I do have a life...

so does everyone else here who manage the board........

Oh, and may I ask who you are?

Hum, I also think it sucks that people don't bother leaving any comments. I dunno, the way I figure it: you have time to download? then you have time to comment. Heck, I took the time to skin it!
A single comment, a small price for a skin, isn't it?

But I have to say that it's getting better. I have comments on almost all my stuff, varying from 1 to 19 comments. So, I can't compain anymore, but it wasn't always like that.

Note to self.....go check out paxx's work and delete some comments....methinks he has too many...

We understand Sed, No problem.......

The problem is that you usually comment after you have downloaded the skin and run it for a bit. How can you comment on a skin or theme until you have tried it? And once you have downloaded and tried it for a bit you are less likely to go back and comment.

pjpowell - The problem is that you usually comment after you have downloaded the skin and run it for a bit.

certinally the way i do it. seeing the skin in use is a very different experience to seening a screen shot.

the other half of the point (speaking personally) is that i am never quite sure what to put when i comment.

these days i down load very little, since i already have so many skins i really really like, it takes something special to grab my attention. so when something increadible comes along it certinally deserves comment. but i grapple with the problem of how to try and put the emotional reaction "it speaks to me" into words what i feel i can submit as a comment.

does anyone follow this, or am i just being *me* again?

There is an excuse for the people who don't leave any comment; they don't know what to write or how to write it (because they don't know well the English language).

Yes feline, I understand what you mean.

I think the Skin browser will help that some. When it comes out, it'll make it much easier to comment we hope.

I try to comment when I can, but let's face it, there's just not always something to say. Actually, all my comments today seem to be complaining about someone taking files from my skins and putting them in their own. But hey, at least I wrote comments today!!

I don't code, I don't skin, I can't draw, and I most definitely can't make graphics =P..

that's why I really don't bother writing comments......because I don't know what's helpful and what's not. My tastes are usually odd, I write odd things, and it'll confuse any artist......

sorry if I haven't commented on a while. Back a while, I use to make it a habit to leave at least a comment, but I was tired of typing the same thing over and over again.....

you know it's bad when you can recite it in your dream....=P

I don't skin (did I say that already before?), I don't code, I can't make graphics...
That is exactly why I DO comment. Every artist that I have ever known appreciates feedback.
Elfkura, you said that you don't know what artists will find helpful. Tell them what you like and wha tyou don't like.
Nikos, if ever I fail top comment, it is because you have left me speechless!
