Pirates acting wierd

K so just started playing rebellion beta from steam and discovered some weird things with the pirates, I can't tell if its intentional or just a bug.

Pirates tend to prioritize trade ships than other things.

ex: In the game I was playing, the pirates were chasing after trade ships when I had a few tactical buildings and a small fleet around a dead asteroid.

Pirates don't have any siege frigates

I'm assuming that's either a change in the new sins or just they haven't been implemented yet.

Also the pirates tend to be slow at picking targets and sometimes stand around doing nothing when they do raids on planets sometimes.

Another thing is when I attempted to give the pirates a mission my game blacked out with an error message but somehow I couldn't view it because whenever I tried to select it, it would just go to the blacked out sins game.

All of these occurred in the first and same game I've been playing so I don't know if its just an isolated case.

Other than those minor things Sins Rebellion is an awesome game and I love the addition of titans, sub-factions, new research, and units.

Ony the Pirate Rogues and Cutthroats prioritize trade and refinery ships as targets. They do this because they gain income from it which they spend on research (which will grant the Pirates new abilities as the game progresses).

They do.  They are called pirate Pillagers and they will only join raids when the raid Severity has reached a higher level, which happens while the game progresses.

This is a bug that came with the release of beta version 0.8 and will be fixed in a later patch (hopefully next monday).

Hope that clarified some stuff! :)

Oh ok thx.

I did notice that the pirate level never passed guarded in the game I was playing before it crashed.

I had no idea how the pirate severity system worked. I thought it was based on bounty or something.

Its a combination of things. Bounty does play a role but how strong the economies of the players does as well. The amount of trade/refinery ships and economical structures can also increase the severity.
