Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Wolfie... that's one elevator that better have a stock of barfbags ready.  And i think one with windows would be a real mistake....

 

I was looking for a calling card the other day when i found some prepaid cell phones for just about the same $$.  I had been worried about sis, since she isn't going to get a phone since she ... has qualms.  Today I was trying to simplify explanations, and get it all set up for her... 

it's very  hard trying to explain wireless stuff to someone who isn't connected that well in the first place....

I was listening to this weeks TWiT podcast and learned about using a "cantenna" for wifi networks. So I fould a coffee can, and gave it to my neighbors, who bought a wirless card and started surfing using my wireless network. They're very nice people though. I just wanted them to get connected to the rest of the world.

Meowy thinks that it is a very cheap and reliable solution

hehe... yeah.  I just want to get my sis connected too.  But so far all the chocolate, and coffee isn't reaching.  Its good she is way over there, though.  And i am glad to report that she is doing extremely well... even has a good apartment all her own.

Getting connected is one thing...getting them to actually use the stuff is another!! Took forever to get hubby online and cell-a-fied! Still stares at that phone for a full 10 seconds before remembering how to answer the damn thing!! , but his 'puting skills are coming along fine. Just had to find the right motivator - for him it was digital photography! I still amazes him that he can do so much without a darkroom!

hehe.... I'm still hoping to get sis 'connected' to reality, or at least a step or two closer to it.  If that ever happens.... I would be happy.  I'm taking a chance sending this cell phone to her.  But i think if i make it simple enough she might relax and accept it.  Then she can always call for  help if she needs it.
