Battling gremlins in my PC. I couldn't get the CD tray to open. Finally, I remembered feline's plug-in, opened KLP, and opened it that way! Only problem I had then was it kept opening and shutting for about 15 minutes.

Packing stuff up and sending some off to sis. Everytime I do, it is the thing on the bottom of the box that is hardest to get at....

*SIGH* I'll get more time soon. I about got stuff caught up here....

this might be caused by pressing the hot key to open / close the CD-ROM drive lots of times, or holding it down for a long time. i dont have this problem myself. strange.

if it happens again i will try looking into it for you.

those of you with a delicate disposition may want to look away at this point.

the background to this is that i sent an email to Stardock support yesterday (or perhaps Thursday) asking if any of the bugs in WB 4 i am still encountering every day are going to be addressed.

then today i spent 6 hours trying to add a USB card to my old computer, so i could use a USB stick to move files around. i have got to the point where if the card is in the machine, the machine wont boot >

so i am not having a totally happy moment.

well, i decided to try and fix the proper message board, since it has broken. however i cannot! it seems i am stuck with either IE and the normal message board look or Stardock central message board >

perhaps it is just me, but finding that:
* SC message board didn't know i read the marathon thread
* SC message board wouldn't load the marathon thread
* SC message board wouldn't even list the marathon thread

in that order rather puts me off.

as for the classic look, why do want all the stuff at the sides and the top???

i timed loading the main page of WC the other day on my home machine. well over 2 minutes, with NO other programs using the net connection to load the WC home page on a 56k modem.

/me simply wants a slimline message board page!

i only ever visit WC for the message board, and really only for 2 threads, one of which goes idle for 6 months at a time.

is a slimline, low bandwidth message board really so much to ask for? it used to exist, but suddenly it doest work anymore /me *cries*

/me really doesn't want IE and the message board to time out while trying to load just so that i can have a load of links to libraries i never visit

SC doesn't know which threads I've read too
The messageboard would be a lot better without the accoutrements. But we seem to be having a few problems lately. Like the winky not working (missing characters), and some words missing too. There may be deeper issues here, no doubt they will be solved, hopefully soon.

How long does it REALLY take them to get my bootskin uploaded?

As for the USB card, what O/S are you using? XP shouldn't be a problem, W95 is a no-go, W98 is tetchy at best.
May be an IRQ problem (W98).

How far does it get in the boot process? May be a BIOS setting...

Have you tried a different PCI slot?
