Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Bah! Don't mention WB3.5 to me > hehehe I'm trying to 'fiddle' my work pc - because of our wonderful firewall neither CM or SDC will connect without a NAT, so I'm trying a work around by downloading to backup at home then restoring at work. If that doesn't work...

/me hates the new firewall - stops me running Seti too

Museum Plans Exhibit on Chocolate

NEW YORK - The dinosaurs and dioramas at the American Museum of Natural History will get some edible company when an exhibit on chocolate opens next week.

To whet appetites for the exhibit, museum officials unveiled chocolate sculptures of animals and artifacts concocted by New York pastry chefs on Tuesday.

"Christopher Columbus discovered a canoe that was filled with cocoa beans," said Bill Yosses of Citarella, displaying his creation, a Mayan pyramid made of chocolate and adorned with gold leaf and organic food coloring. "And his written quote is that they were so precious that if one of them fell, the Indians picked them up as if an eye had fallen out."

Other chocolate sculptures that will join the larger exhibit on the history, ecology and economics of the cocoa bean include reptiles, African artifacts and an Amazonian feather headdress.

"Chocolate" will be at the museum from June 14 to Sept. 7, and there will be lectures, tastings and other activities in conjunction with it.

The exhibit was developed by the Field Museum in Chicago.

/me adjusts the parasol, closes his eyes again and dreams of visiting the exhibition with all of us.

Thanks, mrs Blindbat!

MadIce thinks feline is a genius and watches his progression with nods, ooohs and aaahs (at the correct moment of course)

/me *raspberry* *giggles*
flattery like that will get you an entry in my new plugin!

i am trying to work out how a "spanks and hugs calculator" DX plugin would work anyone with suggestions feel free to post them here

MadIce, with regard to the SET_TEXT games with DX, last night i wrote the ultimate debug tool for DX plugins!

the function:
feline_diary(char *pszText, ...)

takes a printf argument list, then simply appends the text to a file
basic, but this is how i debug all my programs at work, since we don't really have any fancy debug tools.

so, after scattering some feline_diary calls through my plugin, i satisfied myself that given i have no examples to work from, my plugin was written correctly

this morning i found there is a new DX build to try! i downloaded it, and now my plugin works!!!

now "all" i need to do is to wrap up this plugin, and the first version will be ready

which does raise an interesting question. what is the policy on getting DX plugin's vetted before uploading them here? most of the code isn't mine, since i used one of the sample plugin's as a template.

also, since i have been promoted to the heady heights of Journeyman, my uploads will be automatically approved. /me doesn't want to be seen to be abusing this

so, anyone know which Admin i should get to review my plugin once i have polished it a bit?

/me *sigh*
like MadIce and fuzzy logic, i am a long way from there

/me wonders if they have a website?
at lease we could see pictures of the models

actually, this has inspired me!
/me is planning on a life size chocolate statue, showing "dance in motion"
so, all i need are some people who can dance to help...
fuzzy logic and JavaBean sound ideal!

all i need is for them to strike a nice pose, then i can cover them in chocolate!!!

I am using the same technique for years. Mine is called Debug(). And I also have a function called SetDebugLevel() and SupportsDebugLevel() so you can write code like:

if(SupportsDebugLevel(debug_medium)) StealFelinesLeetCode();

It accepts an enum {debug_Off,debug_Minimum,debug_Medium,debug_Maximum};

You can also write macros to ensure such code is never run in a release build.

Party!

If it is based on the sample plugin then don't worry. It was intended for that purpose, OK?

Mr Journeyman, I would suggest you ask some people you know here to test it on various flavors of Windows. Ask the testers to make a skin for it. A lot of people enjoy doing that. You'll see. Then when everyone is satisfied upload it. You are the Journeyman, so T-man & the Admins will trust your judgement. If you cannot find enough testers here then try IRC.

Way to hang in there KarmaGirl!!!

I have heard and seen a very small portion of what you do and what you have to put up with. The fact that you are still here is a testament to your work ethic. I hope you feel very good about this accomplishment. Your parents should be proud too
