Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

I was just typing up some divisibility rules to help out my 10 year old with his math stuff. This is the rule for the number 11:

11. Alternately add and subtract the digits from left to right. If the result (including 0) is divisible by 11, the number is also. Example: To see whether 365167484 is divisible by 11, start by subtracting: 3-6+5-1+6-7+4-8+4=0; therefore 365167484 is divisible by 11.

ummmmm, if he's having problems with math, is this rule really going to help him

Umm, that's dumb. Just get a calculator and divide by 11, it's a lot easier than messing with all that + and - stuff

the kiddos can't use a calculator until they get into Junior High I think. They really need to learn how to do this stuff without one. I kept telling him yesterday...'just divide it and find out', but he was very tired and just kept whining about how hard it is to find out if an 8 digit number is divisible by a one digit number. sheesh... The calculator has killed math skills.

MadIce - I am having a hard time with it myself.

basically, its all quite simple really

after considerable experimentation we have worked out the following things:
* eating chocolate makes you feel good
* fuzzy likes it when we get any of the ladies naked
* ladies in sexy nurse uniforms tend to make everyone feel better
* *HUGS* and *TICKLES* are good!
* *SPANKS* are good, if they are done with kindness and chocolate
* fuzzy looks very decorative when tied up in a straight jacket!

so, we apply these basic principles to help make ourselves feel better

Who needs maths anyway. I've spent the last 25 years in Accounts/Payroll and I still have to use a calculator to add. I'm pretty good at quadratic equations though...

hehe
i knew lots of people suddying maths at university.
as a rule they could do scarey complex algebra, calculus, etc in their heads with no problems.

but ask them to add 7 and 9 together, and they started counting on their fingers.

it depends on what you want to learn, and what you want to do with it

/me wonders if we can turn fuzzy into an adding machine!
if we tie him down to the massage table, we can add A and B together by applying A spanks to one side of him, and B spanks to the other side of him.

then all we need to do is to ask him how many spanks he received!

/me speculates we can extend this to more complex algebra by applying tickles and hugs!

/me is thinking about starting a chemistry experiment.

All I have to do is coat everyone in chocolate and see which chocolate coating hardens first.
Then test the 'nibble' factor to see which is the nibbliest coating

A combination of the two should see the best possible coating.

Of course I will have to carry out this test many times to ensure an accurate result
