Windows 8 and skinning

So on the one hand, Windows 8, in its current form, is an abomination.  As much as I appreciate Microsoft's enthusiasm to reinvigorate customization to solve their inept design decisions, I would rather have a good version of Windows 8.

That said, it appears they're going to frog march Windows 8 out the door.  For those of you who have it, what things would you like us to fix first?

I said Stardock should make its own OS. It would put Microstuiff on notice real quick. Save a lot of headaches too I'd imagine.

To begin with, deactivate the Metro desktop entirely and restore the full start menu

Yup Eliminate Metro. the desktop is the home of UI, not some tablet inspired junk pile.
Charge what you want for your tools, make 8 behave like 7 and they will buy it!

hmmm

- create some "on the desktop buttons" maybe on the Object Bar" to show things like the Metro Interface, the Charms bar, or the currently runing apps.  I dislike having to move mouse around to find hotspot in the corners of the screen.

- make sure that Microsoft Store Apps, will show up on the Tiles bar and you can individually close them, intead of having hundreds running after a while like on my iphone.  Heh, how about a timer you can set if the app is not used for more than 5mins then it could be closed automatically.

- defintely will nheed a customize option or app to reorganize and retranslate the Metro Start Screen.

Oh, and i do use a regular desktop PC, with a regular monitor and mouse, NO touch screens, yet anyways. :)

Thanks

Brad

I´ll be happy if You make it Fully Skinnable & Less "Metro" in the overall. ^_^

I have a feeling Win 8 will be Stardock domain. Start 8 is proof of that. Could very well make buying the OS worth it just to get bells and whistles that work!

I would like to be able to change metro tile colors or add images to the tiles.

I would like to be able to run some metro tiles on the desktop (a la DesktopX)

Just make it so one can select one or the other, Metro or a Windows 8 that looks like the normal Windows 7 UI as much as possible.
