I gots me self a new PC - soon!

Which might spell the ending of skinning for me....

Just ordered a brand new PC today! \o/ \o/

YAY - and then again.. bleh.... :(
Having Win7 installed might just spell the end of skinning for me.... I mainly use/skin RightClick, which is notorious for NOT working right on 64bit systems - specially not Win7. (Spankings to Stardock for not wanting to fix this issue)
I have RightClick working, at the moment on my 64bit Vista which I'm actually not than keen on getting rid of.... but it's been promissed to my girlfriend, and she really needs a PC upgrade - badly! She's currently running Win7 on a box barely suited for WinXP. (Thanks to her "genius know-it-effin-all-about-pcs" ex boyfriend)

I'll show some pics of the new box, as soon as I get it home. I hope it's ready sometime tomorrow. \o/

I think I really like the way that case is laid out, seems like it would be really easy to work on, and with tons of airflow in all the right places.

Yeah, it's a very similar setup to my Thermaltake case... almost identical, in fact, though my front fan isn't quite that big.  Also, I put my HDD's in the opposite way around so that all the cables were mostly hidden on the right-hand side [from the front] of the case... it just looks tidier that way.

The new box lacks a cardreader and have less USB slots...

I had one in one of my bays but frankly I didn't use it often enough to give up the usb connection on the MB so I got a <$15 65 in 1 reader I can plugin when needed and I added 4 more USB ports.....works just as well.

Added a third monitor to the set up, yesterday. Well, rather... I attempted to add it...
Turns out I cannot run DVI+DVI+HDMI without some sort of adapter for one of the DVIs.
Well... that's not an option.

Luckily my new 'hardware pusher' agreed to attempt to repair my HD4850X2, that got fried a couple of years ago.
He'll be the effin' man of the year if he can pull it off!
Best friggin' card I've ever used. Runs 4X DVI without no problems or additional thingymadjiks.

/me crosses fingers and hopes for the best!

Will hopefull get some good news tomorrow, or Wednesday latest.

The active adapter runs about $60 US last I checked (been a few months) and they seem to have a limited life span. I dropped about $40 on a 1 GB HD 5450 instead and it runs the third monitor just fine. The last drivers for the HD 4XXX series were just released....no more support for the 4850 so you'll likely be SOL for Windows 8 should you ever decide to give up Veesta and RC.

Mike.... You're way behind. Hehe. ;)

I'm running Win7 now. (So no more RC :( )
And I have no plans what so ever to go on to Win8. It's more likely that I'll either get hold of a less limited version of Win7 (I'm on Home "Premium") or go back to Vista Pro.

And I do have working drivers for Win7 for the HD4850X2. May not be fully uptodate, but they work. :)

Close, but no cigar. The card is dead and burried. :|

But after many failed attempts with various adapters I finally got hold of the right one, and now I'm running a three-monitor setup again! :D

Next project: Wall mounting the 26" (on the left) and the 22" (on the right) freeing up some desk space.
