If apple made a Intel version of OSX

If apple made a Intel version of OSX

If apple released a Intel version of OSX as it is rumored exist, would you buy it?, to dual boot?, or run stand alone? Would it be a good move for apple? What do you think?

The only problem with the Macintosh “Nice” car analogy is that you don’t have to dive your Mercedes Benz on completely separate roods and use a special gas no other car can use.

That's why I find the Net so cool when I first strolled onto it six years ago. All these machines running different OSes talking to each other. Ain't that grand? The sooner any app can run on any OS, the better.

That doesn't quite hold up mormegil, IMO... Macs still use the same electricity for fuel as PC's do... and they DO still drive on the same roads - same internet, can save to the same file formats as Windows, can be networked together, etc...

The only real difference is that the dashboard and driving controls are a little diferent... Sure, some after factory parts intended for a Buick might not work in a BMW, but would you really want to use Buick parts in a BMW when the BMW has a rather healthy after market parts selection of it's own?

If you are saying a mac is a BMW and a Windows machine is a Buick, then the Buick has a lot more optional extras.

I think apps running on any OS is definately a good theng, then anyone could have the OS they WANT! Not be stuck with a certain one (Windows) because it is by far the most compatible. There are probably 20 windows apps to every mac app. Shame really. If that wasn't the case, I know what I'd be running!

Get me a right mouse button that is functional, and integrated in to the apps and I might you the Mac I already have access to.

Assuming your Mac supports OS X (G3 systems and higher) then install it and buy a 2 button mouse. I'm using a cordless Logitech Trackman Wheel with my G4... No drivers needed. Wheel works nicely, too... never realized how much I'd use the wheel until I actually got it.

As a nice bonus, the 2nd mouse button also functions with many OS9 apps when running under "Classic" mode in OS X.

The difference between what Macs call right mouse support and the full integration in windows is night and day.
