JPG to BMP compression ?

Hi I'm new here and I would like to upload some of my wallpapers. My problem is the picture is about 243kb in jpg form, this site requires a bmp to be in a zip file in which the bmp to becomes 3.51mb. What process can I use to make the bmp smaller?(I use PSP 7.04 and Photoshop 6 most of the pictures were made with Bryce 4 & 5)
Thank You for your time,

You can't. BMP is a non-compressed format (ignoring RLE compression, which is only for indexed bitmaps anyway). You can reduce the space used by reducing the amount of colours used (and then you *can* save as a compressed BMP), but for most wallpapers that's not practical - they simply use too many colours, and require smooth gradients.

The Zipped BMP will probably be about the same size as the JPG....

Monty, I don't think your wall has to be a bmp.
The term Bitmap as used on the upload page usually means bmp, jpg, gif........etc.......
I'm sure Jafo will correct me if I'm wrong.

Last wallpaper I uploaded was zipped jpg, so unless a mistake was made, "bitmap" indeed does not necessarily mean bmp.

Monty, you can upload a .jpg as long as it's in a .zip, so go ahead and upload. And, don't forget that your screenshot must be full size and not thumbnail size as we generate the thumbnail from your full size image. So many people make this mistake and we just have to ask them to re-upload.
/me goes back to e-mailing people with tiny screenshots....*sigh*
